Need help, quick! Should i buy this? Tundra detectives, unite!
I've been looking for a new tundy for a while now (i currently own a 2004 double) and I just got hooked up with a friends car auction account. I'm browsing whats available across the country, as you can bid remotely. I found this truck in Seattle-
2008
vin: 5TFBV541X8X056069
odometer: 1,700
5.7, 4x4, dbl cab, SR5
Altered suspension (whatever that means)
chome wheels (can anyone identify?)
toyo tires w/ 4/32 tread
Aftermarket bumper (I don't care for it at all - any insight? is the stock bumper hiding underneath that thing?)
tinted windows
scratches on front bumper
Pics:
This truck rolls through the auction tomorrow at about noon. What do you think? Deal or no deal? and what would be a reasonable price?

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole - the first guy who owned it clearly beat the you-know-what of it. I'd look for a stock, unmodified truck and know you're getting something un-abused.

2007 Tundra 5.7 4x2 RCSB slate metallic
2005 Corolla - all stock, cause it's the wifes
1986 Mustang GT - the stereo is under the hood
1990 Corolla - cause it was really cheap

Altered suspension means its most likely lifted - which if not done correctly can cause all sorts of problems. The wheels look like Pro Comp (not sure which style). I'm not sure I understand how the truck can have only 1,700 miles and have 4/32'nds of tread left on the tires . No, the stock bumper is not hiding under there either - it was definitely removed to mount the ARB bumper you see in the pictures.
I'd stay away from this one - too many question marks...
Like has been said before if you want a used Tundra, buy one that is still stock...

I think the tires got added as used. That or he tore them up on the street or off road. I would not be afraid of the truck but leery. If it is cheap enough, then go for it. I am sure you could get some money from the bumper and wheels if you don't like them and get what you like. This truck is something i'd like to see in person before I bought though

There's a reason it's at an auction with that low a mileage on it!!!!! Buyer Beware! Dealers keep those with less than about 50k if they've been babied for sale on their lots. all others head to the auction.

It seems to be missing the top glove compartment cover (Tundras have two). The open dash area you see above the glove compartment should have a black cover.
Look at Kelleys Blue Book for the Value on this truck. This is what the dealers will likely pay.
I would not be afraid of purchasing this as it still is under manufacturer's warranty. Can't go wrong when it still has warranty left if it is at a good price. I'm interested in knowing what it goes for.

If you look closely, it's open, and partially covering the center vent there I think.

So, I decided that it's too much of a gamble. Thanks for the input.
For the rebound, I called a local salesman and told him if he gave me an 09 rock warrior for invoice, I'd come down and buy it. He's supposed to call me back.
