Don't know about an after-market camers that will mount there, I have heard the Toyota one is hard to come by now for some reason. Oh, and the Toyota camera comes with a whole new latch.

I have an aftermarket unit that mounts on the licence plate. I plan on changing to a better unit but this was cheap and quick. I like that it points straight back which you don't get with the factory unit.
I am sure you could fit an aftermarket unit in there and I think there are lots of displays still available

The factory unit may point down but you can see back very well also. Works great!

I too went the aftermarket route. I have mine wired to license plate camera and it works well. You may be able to fit an aftermarket camera in there but I would be concerned about fitment. You could ask the dealer to order the correct part since it was their mistake and go completely aftermarket. Depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend. Good luck.

I think you should just return that wrong one and go with license plate ones........its mush easier and cheaper.....

I got a Boyl rear-camera license plate one and works very well at night too
plus I had the shop bypass it so I can see the rear view at any time on my Pioneer Z3
