Just found a great place for rust to hide
I was washing the beast the other day and found this place. Right in the bottum of the door jam of the driver side there is a black rubber flap. Put my hand in there and pulled out 4 had fulls of leaves and mud. This is great place for rust to start eatting it from the inside out. Just thought I wood put it out there.

Yeah kind of a bad place to be putting wood.
But for pic I'm not sure how to post them. If you open your door and look down towards the engine there is a flap that blends into the look of the finder and if you push it back that is the space I have found.

You are correct! I've been cleaning leaves and dirt out of that area since I bought my truck. If you open your door just look down below the hinges and you will see a small black flap. Just pull it out and start cleaning. This little area is somehow connected to the drain from below the windshield wiper tray.
Definitely a place to be sure you keep clean. OH and I noticed that the never Tacoma's also have the same flap.

It's a spot to check on the Gen1 also. Pulled many dirty, muddy, wet leaves and pine straw outta that tough to reach spot.

Re: Just found a great place for rust to hide
Thanks for that info I have just over 800 miles on my new truck. This would be a great time to put some corrosion prevenitve treatment in there.
