Default What a monster

Ok. Drove over 5000 miles in two weeks.

Left the D, Detroit to Lyford texas on 7/2 and arrived on 7/3. Left Lyford on 7/5 and arrived at the D on 7/7. Family with me. Left the D on 7/11 to Sandusky OH. Left Sandusky on 7/13 and arrived in Lyford on 7/15. Left lyford on 7/17 and arrived at the D on 7/18. To late and missed Kid Rock. Damn.

What a ride. Felt like I was in a recliner. Drove sooooooo smooth. By the way, did between 19 to 21 miles per gallon. Depending on speed. However, just for the record, filled up in Lousiville KY and made it to the D with 1/4 tank left. Did 350 miles at 65. I think 65 is the sweet spot of the monster.

I just drove 450 miles in my 5.7 and averaged over 19mpg! I too stayed around 55-70mph. This truck is just as fuel efficient on the highway as my 4.0 Tacoma was.

I didn't notice any reduced mileage when I migrated from my Gen 1 4.7 either. Not bad for 100 extra hp and 1000 lbs heavier.

Well at less than a dollar a gallon it really shouldn't matter. Hell gas is cheaper than water there.

My wife and I have 2500 miles on our 09 Tundra (5.7 DC) and we have been averaging 17mpg (couple long trips) with mixed driving. I plan on switching to Mobil 1 at the first oil change (@ 5k) so I hope mpg will increase slightly--plus we're still breaking in. All in all, I'm very impressed for a machine this size (and weight). Considering, our '05 Tacoma (4.0 6spd) averaged 19 to 20 on highway and about 16 to 17 MPG in city....

Ya don't say what speed you were driving, just the same something seems amiss.

I can get 12 mpg pulling my 5'er (on flat land).
