Default New tundra or new tacoma???

Need help deciding between the Tacoma Double Cab 2WD vs. Tundra Double Cab or Crew Max 2WD
I drive my two girls a lot and am worried about rear leg room. Please help as I know many of you have had Tacomas and will know everyday life with them both.

THANKS EVERYONE! GREAT FORUM!

Your needs would be best met with a regular cab short bed Tundra with 5.7, as this has the best quarter mile performance at the dragstrip. Your two girls would be very impressed with a low 14 second pass right off the showroom floor.

DC or Crewmax with a 4.6L. In between a Tacoma and 5.7L Tundra.

The tacos look great, just too small, I'm 6'4". They're pricey as well.

If you're considering a taco then a dc would be fine and a CM would be overkill, unless your daughters are eastern European athletes from the 80s then legroom should be no issue.

So my vote is 4.6 DC, but I do love my 5.7

I second this post. Only I'd add a S/C as that would help improve on that 14 second time...

I had a Tacoma(4.0) and traded it for the Tundra(5.7). The Tundra is a much nice truck IMO and the MPG didn't change all that much. I only ended up paying $4000.00 for the Tundra too.

The Tundra DC has 2 inches more rear leg room than the tacoma double cab. The crew max has a foot on the tacoma and 10 inches on the tundra dc.

Go for 4.6 CrewMax, so far people posted great MPG with that engine.
Plus the leg room in CrewMax is like a limo size. I have one 2wd with 5.7.
If you can shell some more cash for 5.7 and do not care for MPG go with 5.7 CrewMax. My avg MPG mixed driving is 15.6, winter time 14.6.

Actually, go and test drive one, you'll forget about the Taco. Many people here upgraded those to Tundra.

Thanks everybody. I think the Tundra may be the one. I liked the idea of the taco fitting in the garage though. CM does not have a prayer.

I think so, for the standard bed dcab. The exhaust vendors call them "mid wheelbase".

I have always liked the tacoma's and i had a 1999. With that said when i was truck shopping for this truck i just thought that for the money difference I could step up to the Tundra and get "more for my money" At least thats how i saw it and thats what i told the wife!!!

and I went with the crew max. I don't think that you have young children... but i sure am glad that i gotthe crew max because rear facing child seats are huge!!!

I second the option for the CM w/4.6. Obviously your main concern is fitting your girls, their friends, and all their gear comfortably into the truck. The 5.5' bed, which was the deal breaker for me, doesn't seem to be as much of an issue for you because we use our trucks for different purposes.

The room in the back of the CM is unreal, and as far as the bed goes, you can put a tonneau cover on it and use it as a trunk for anything extra.

The Tundra vs. Tacoma is like comparing apples and oranges. When I was in the market I drove my buddies 08 Tacoma w/access cab for a few days. It's a very nice truck however it's too crowded inside. I'm not a real big guy (5'9",170lbs) and I felt the need for more room. I was very impressed when I first sat in a DC Tundra. There is plenty of room up front with more storage space than you can use.

Good luck with your purchase.
