Default question about painting the taillights

ok so i dont wanna spend $100 on the gts taillight covers, and the spray tint i tried on my mustang and it didn't work very well to make it look actually black and not smoked...so i saw a guy the other day in a silverado that just looked painted and it was a flat black looking, which is exactly what i want for my truck...has anybody out there just spray painted their taillights and it look good? what was your process and what kind of paint, any adhesion promoter used or clear coat (but i kinda want the flat black?) anything will help (except negative comments lol) thank you

Default Re: question about painting the taillights

Just use some black hobby paint then some kind of coat to protect it. Not the same but similar, I painted my tail lights candy apple red then used clear coat. Both were in an aerosol can.
