Default Homelink mirror installation

Hey guys I just bought a brand new homelink mirror off ebay for $154.00! So is it pretty easy to install it? I couldn't find a DIY sticky for it, anybody have one out there? I tend to break things easily when doing these kind of things , really don't want to screw this up .

so easy.

- pop down the overhead console
- in the front there will be two cables (one for back up camera and one for mirror; don't worry you can't mix em up as they are different sizes)
- pick correct cable, plug in the mirror
- re-attach overhead console
- drive in a circle 3 times to calibrate the compass and you're done

Where can I get a panel removal tool? Is this only available at the dealership? And the "headliner" is the fabric on the roof? How is that taken off. Sorry i'm a super newbie haha.

Thanks.

You don't need the panel removal tool, a flathead srewdriver will work. Follow the directions in that .pdf and you won't have any problem. I've installed the homelink mirror, backup camera, sway bar, and K&N CAI all just by following the directions. I'm a mechanical moron, and if I can install these things by following the directions, anyone can.

BTW- once you get it installed, follow the programming instructions on the homelink website for programming to your garage door opener.

A 1" wide stiff putty knife also works as a panel removal tool.

The fabric headliner does not need to be removed. The plastic area to the rear of the mirror with the little flip down compartments is removed to get to the electrical connections hidden underneath it.

Follow the instructions in the PDF file exactly and there won't be a problem.

ok...newbie here....I recently bought a 2010 Tundra and decided to buy a homelink mirror on ebay. The seller told me that it was compatible with the 2010 but unfortunately when I removed the panel the adapter plug was the 14 pin version vs. the older 10 pin version....does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what to do? Does anyone make an adapter harness? If I knew which wires(color coded) to cross reference I would not have a problem striping the wires myself, but I don't want to do this on a trial and error basis with a new truck! HELP....

Just as a precautionary step.... probably non-issue with a non-factory installed mirror.... But check this thread.... I thought the whole issue was retarded myself, till I found the culprit...
Still...some great tips in it...
Creaking Dash, Mirror, you name it....

So it's been awhile since I installed the Homelink mirror. I have some gripes with mine, it dosen't work from certain spots of my driveway, sometimes works sometimes dosen't, and dosen't work if I park backwards. I'm pretty sure it's just mine because I got it off ebay... Anyways anybody else have these issues like mine lol? But the anti-glare and compass is a major , just wish the garage opener would work 100% of the time. Another reason I think it's just mine is because the one on my parents Murano works great and my bros new g37 works good too.

I have installed the Homelink Mirror (easiest to do), the Swaybar, Borla Duals, VLEDS, TRD CAI, and other little things by just following instructions. Some directions could definitely be better constructed, but they all worked out. Great luck to you in figuring out where to go with your pin situation.

I have the factory setup, I really like the auto dimming and compass. I would try out the garage door buttons but I don't have a garage door opener, heck I don't have a garage door.... dang I don't even have a garage!! What the flock!!!? All I have is this lowly carport as it doesn't get real cold here, just need a little shade.

I put one in my 08 DC. The only thing I had to do special was go buy a size 20 torx screwdriver. The size 20 bit, actually the bit holder, would not go up into the rear access openings after I bent the tabs up.

Mine was the longer console that has the map lights for the rear passengers. Six torx screws and a pull to the rear and it comes down. Unplug the light harness and you are good to go. Two connectors up there, one for a camera monitor and the homelink mirror connector.

Reverse for reinstall of the console. Drive slowly in two complete circles to calibrate the compass and you are set.

Drive in a circle to calibrate the compass? Really!?

The OEM one you just program what part of the country you live in and call it Jake.
