Default Which 285/50/20 Brand

I think I have decided on 285/50/20 size. Just a little shorter than the stock 275/55/20.
I do pull a boat, a 20" Malibu ski boat, about 3K lbs. Not sure about load ratings. Looking at the following tires.

Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus
Nexen Rodian HP
Goodyear Eagle GTII
Hankook Ventus ST
Sumitomo HTR Sport
Nitto Extreme force

I do not need an offroad tire. I want the wider look, I would really like to go with a 305/50/20, but I am not sure it they will fit without a lift.
What do you think?
Help me out experts, I know there is a lot of knowledge out there.

305 will fit without a lift. I have 305/22/45 and there is PLENTY of clearance. I don't imagine a 50 sidewall would pose a problem.

1. You're not comparing apples with apples b/c your 22" wheels might have a different offset than stock.

2. I've always been a fan of Yokohama/Pirelli/Bridgestone tires, anything suits your needs by those manufacturers?

3. I would search for the Miata Tire Calculator to make sure you are keeping your odometer close to stock.
