I know im gonna get flamed, so i got my nomex on...
Im gonna go with one of them fancy top-spacer lifts and have researched for hours the largest size it seems would fit without getting new rims. Below are my best options at this point.
I would much rather go with the mild looking ProComp ATs because I have great experience with them, they got killer reviews, plus they usually have a buy 3 and get 1 free special.. like they are now but would have to stay stock size.
BFG's are only okay from my experience and are the "boring norm".
The Goodyears are a new tire that look like a good mix between a AT and mild MT. Goodyear did a good job on their Wranger MTs and you can usually find a good deal at most major tire shops.
STOCK 275 65 18 11W 32.2 Lame!
BFG ATKO 285 65 18 11.5W 32.7 plain ol' bfgs
PC AT 275 65 18 11W 32.2 Perfect but same as stock..
PC XAT 305 60 18 12.1W 32.6 Close 2nd but not much bigger
Toyo AT 33 11R 18 11W 33.1 Too stock looking but larger
Toyo AT 35 11.5E 18 11.3W 34.8 Too stock looking, large but too thick?
GY Duratrac 275 70 18 11W 33.2 Bingo! taller & aggressive looking
I want to keep with the 11.0Width to match stock width with the stock rims. I am hopefull that they will not rub... If i am staying stock size tire, might as well keep the stock nose-drag so I dont look all gappy.. like a ford stupid-dooty with 12" lift and 35's!
What about BFG 305/65/18's? They look the best with a 3" lift.
Very true, if you want to use the stock wheels this is the best bet. Thats if you want a tire that actually looks right on the Tundra. The 275-285 look too small. hell the 305s look just big enough. From a distance the 275 or 285 look like little tires on there. The Tundra just has a way of making fairly big tires look small on it.

Amen to that, even my tires look small to me. I just can't figure out a way to go larger. Definitely go with the 305's, I had 285/65R20 on mine with the 3" lift and even they looked small.
305-65-18 are about 33.7" H... good! But are 12"wide on a 9" rim according to their specs. I assumed a 12" tire would rub with stock rim... but Fire Mike and Henry T seem to make it work. Maybe this just opened more options.. Thanks fellas.

Any other ideas?
With a 3" lift they will rud a bit on the skid plate. A small trim of the skid plate takes care of that. Either a jigsaw, or sawzall will do it in a few seconds. If you need pics on how to trim it, let me know and I'll take some of mine.
How wide can you go (on stock rims) before running into backspacing issues? I'm running 285/65/18 BFG's now, and they already seem pretty close to the upper control arm.
My next set NEED to be a mud terrain (didn't take long at work to figure that out!), I'd like to go with a 305/65/18 or 33x12.5 Toyo MT, but am a bit concerned about the added width.
305-65-18s huh... never checked that one.. stock rims and a 3"er no rubbin? Im on it. Let me check them out.....
Look at Henry T's gallery, he has some good angles with the 305/65/18 BFG's
I just bought some 305/65/18 BFG A/T's and have them installed on the stock TRD wheels with the adjustable bilstein's with the clip set for middle height. Only 1.75" lift and the BFG's fit perfect.
The skid plate had to be trimmed, which took all of 10 minutes with electric metal snips.

My feeling is if your tires are too wide that they rub, your rims are too narrow for the tire. you should get wider wheels to go with those fat tires.
A wider rim by itself wouldn't help. What you'd need is a rim with different backspacing. Or you can alwas trim the skid plate - I took a whopping 2" off of mine. If you look at the front sway bar, you will see it has a shape to allow for the wheel/tire to turn into it. The skid plate sticks out past this indentation.

Everything is sounding much better. Nothing wrong with a little trim. I can easily handle the skid plate issue. If thats all it is to fit a 12 tire, then I am set. I was worried about A-Arm rubbin and anything else that cant be worked around with the stock alloys. Anyone know if the TRD and stock alloys have the same backspacing. It would seem they should since they are a factory replacement...
Im looking for Henry T's photos.....
