I bought my new '10 Tundra DC on Thursday and on Sunday my CE light came on. Brought to dealership this morning and after two hours, told me they will have to keep truck there for at least 2 days. They told me that diagnostic code P0022 "Camshaft Position "A" -Timing Over-Retarded" was the reason and they had never seen this code before. Service "advisor" said they most likely will need to order parts. Anyone seen this before and if so, what happened? Thanks!
I found the following by googling P0022 camshaft position A:
This code will trigger the check engine light under the following condition: The comprehensive component monitor, referred to as the CCM, monitors the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) position for over-retarded cam timing. If the cam timing exceeds a maximum calibrated limit or is stuck in a retarded position, the check engine light will come on and set this trouble code.
Possible Causes:
Incorrect camshaft timing
VCT solenoid valve stuck open or continuous oil flow to piston chamber
Camshaft advance mechanism binding, or faulty VCT unit
Diagnostic Help:
This check engine light code is caused by a mechanical fault of the VCT unit or related components, so there is no need for electrical diagnosis. Possible symptoms may include rough idle, stall or hard start. Refer to manufacturer specific component tests for the VCT unit.

Well damn, sounds like everybody and their brother has a 4.6 with issues. You are one of the few that is really having a problem with teh 5.7 other than the initial camshaft failures.
Hope you can get it resolved.

Just talked to Toyota and they apparently fixed the issue. They also changed my oil (which is strange since it only had 450 miles on it). I have a feeling this didn't correct my issue, but we'll see. Wish me luck.

I wish you luck! Once you get bad luck with a brand new vehicle.. even though they said it's fixed... you still have a bad feeling about it... well at least if it's my truck.
