Default 5100s - Does higher setting = stiffer ride?

OK, so I searched and read every thread regarding the 5100s, but have been unable to find an answer to the following question:

Does the higher the setting you you put the 5100s on (for the front only, I know the rears are not adjustable) cause the vehicle to ride more harshly or firm?

I am going to put it on the middle or highest setting depending on which one offers the best ride quality. If there is no difference I will put them on the highest setting.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Without a doubt it will be stiffer on the highest setting. But it still may ride better than stock even on the highest setting...I'll let someone with the 5100s answer that part.

I have Crewmax with all 4 5100 on non trd at highest setting up front.

Stiffer ride yea but not by much from stock.

Middle setting gives you a little smoother as per my conversation with WHEELERS by like 15-20% less stiff.

ON a Crewmax middle looks good and top looks good as well.

Mine has a one inch rake with all 4 and set to full 2.56 lift up front. Results do very.
I have seen crewmax at middle and looks good.

DEPENDS WHAT LOOK YOU ARE GOING FOR.

I don't have a comparison with middle setting.

Less stiff than the highest setting, or less stiff than stock?

Less stiff then the highest 5100 setting.

If I had to do it again I would jack it up all the way on a CREWMAX cause look is not overpowering. For obvious lift that is a 6 inch lift.

The higher the setting the stiffer ride. However compared with the TRD Bilsteins that came on my crewmax the ride is better and not much stiffer.

Thanks guys for all the replies. I was comparing it to stock non-TRD ride.

I have a double cab, and like the look of lifted. I figured I might as well go all the way up on the 5100s as long as the ride is not worse than stock.

Also, I am not planning to run a block in the rear. So hopefully if I do run the 5100s on their highest setting the truck will sit level or have a slight rake.

OK, I have one other question for those who have a DC and 5100s: If I put the 5100s on the highest setting do I need to put a block in the back?

Thanks in advance!

That depends on the look you want. With the fronts at the highest setting, you should still have a slight rake to the truck. If you want more rake, then do a block - if you want close to level (with no load in the truck), then no block is needed.

Fire Mike thanks for getting back to me. I guess I wasn't real clear . . . I want it to be level or a slight rake. So in that case using the highest setting I should have little to no rake and no need a block?

I just don't want to be nose up!

I have a double cab. 5100's on middle gives me 1" higher on rear, measured from wheel well to center of wheel. It is about right. If you want nose up, run the highest setting. I have 2k miles and stilll the same. Looks level sitting in the driveway. Trd springs if that matters.

Thanks for the reply, but I do NOT want to be nose up. This is what is so confusing about the 5100s. Some people say the highest setting makes the truck level, others suggest that it will make the truck slightly nose high.

I guess I'll just put it one the highest and if I need to change it I'll change it, or throw a block in the back.

However, now I am getting the wu wu wu noise from my front diff. So I am going to see about getting that repaired before installing the shocks that I've now had for 2 months. Ugh!
