well i am IN!! just let me know when its ready. my only problem will be finding a shop to do the install. but ill worry about that when the time comes. i do too much winter driving, to be dealing with the useless system that is currently in the tundra.
I had installed a detriot truetrac locker in my 94 SR5 V-6 4X4 what a difference that made for getting traction. Does the torsen unit work like that? If the unit performs like the truetrac Iam in. The ARB locker is nice but to much to go wrong with for me.
I'm In!!! Ready to pay a deposit too.. anything to replace that ALSD garbage!

Thanks for the posts so far... I'll be speaking with some folks next week about this.
The Truetrac is a Torsen type 2 differential.

Would I pay $750-950 plus labor to add it to my truck and risk warranty coverage? No.
BUT....I will be the first to admit that I don't truly understand the performance difference between a full-locking differential and your non-locking differential, or how much better your non-locking differential would be than the stock setup. The one thing I know for sure though, is that my Tundra doesn't perform as well in mud/snow 4x4 low driving conditions as my cousin's Titan with a locking differential.

What on earth was Toyota thinking?
that torsen would cure that, and your warranty would only be void on the unit itself.
How many of you plan to re-use your same ring and pinion?
I think the only way this will work properly is if you turned off all nannies, then it would work like a charm. The computer cutting power is more of an issue to me than the ALSD

in an extreme situation, where one wheel is on slick ice, and just spinning. the A-LSD would actually help the LSD. when the brake grabs the spinning wheel, it would give it just enough torque to lock the diff. and then away you go. so i think it would equalize your wheel speeds, before it cuts power. but if youre still worried about it cutting power, cant you just push the trac button once, to just have A-LSD active?
