Question about the TRD Off Road pkg Bilstein shocks
There is a lot of talk about the 5100 Bilstein shocks. Since mine came with Bilsteins can someone tell me which type/model of shocks are on my 2010 CM 4X4 with the TRD Off Road Pkg. If they are the 5100s and I have a 3in ToyTec lift installed can I still adjust them for even more lift?

Re: Question about the TRD Off Road pkg Bilstein shocks
Thanks but I have already spent an hour researching my question through the search function without any luck. Maybe someone with some knowledge on this subject might want to chime in with some usable information. By the way I won't deny that there is a lot of information through search but a lot of it has become confusing and questionable.

Thank you for the reply. I asked this question because of the my concern with driveline physics/geometry involved with the 3" toytec and the 1.5 rear blocks along with the Bilsteins. You say to put it on the 2nd click so by doing so this won't mess up the driveline geometry, correct? Thanks in advance.

Re: Question about the TRD Off Road pkg Bilstein shocks
as stated above, the stock ones are just gussied up stock ones...they arent really anything special, certainly not an aftermarket adjustable shock...so if u want to adjust them u need to get the 5100s. if uwanna just ride stock just keep what u got.

kinda like google....we need a bing decision engine for our forum...the search function pulls crap where someone posted two words that match but it may be in a 8 page thread 2/3 down on page 5 and you'll never find it....

Thanks, that is just what I needed to know. Points sent.
I agree with the posts regarding the search function. After so many posts about the same subject the information starts to become confusing. Thanks to those that just stepped up and provided the information. I highly appreciate it.

Here you are..... Here's the thread I think you were looking for - it correlates the shock color with a level of performance - you don't have to read the entire thread, but it should give you what you need.....
The Bilstein 5100's are silver....

Re: Question about the TRD Off Road pkg Bilstein shocks
The benefit of the TRD Bilsteins is better damping esp. on rebound. Although they're not adjustable for height, they are an improvement for offroad use in this application. On the other hand, there are reports that they provide a rougher ride on pavement as opposed to the stock shocks.
I've got the TRD and when I compare the ride this Tundra gives me to the F-150 of my father in law, or my previous truck, a Dodge Ram 2500, there is no comparison, the Tundra even with TRD is way better. Doesn't answer the question directly (I believe you've got your answer) but is pertinent, anyway, I think.

I think you will find that is too high to achieve a proper alignment. If you put a 3" on front and do the Bilsteins on the lowest setting you will be right at the limits; that's the exact setup I have right now.
Note that I also have a front differential and rear driveshaft drop to preserve the geometry.

Front Susp: Stock coilovers, 4" lift (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...6-4-inch-lift/), swapped extra spacers for Bilstein 5100s on lowest setting, wheel well height still 41.5." Rear Susp: ProComp ES3000 #326510 (2.25" taller than stock), 1.25" blocks plus PRG mini-pack (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...and-new-truck/) gives 2.25" total lift, parking brake cable bracket spacers, wheel well height 43." Front diff and rear ds drop; trailer hitch electrical harness tucked up above bumper. After 20K miles swapped 305/65/18 BFG AT for 285/75/18 Toyo AT, still on stock 18x8x60 offset TRD wheels, about 1/8" clearance to sway bar. Like the extra height but miss the width. Next time either 305/70/, 295/70, or 35x12.50/18. Added 5th 285/75/18 Toyo AT as spare. Bed Bounce: Stiffer E-tires are worse than stock P-metric; biggest improvement from PRG mini-pack, slight improvement from shocks. Still a stiff ride but tolerable now. Best things about this truck: 5.7 and transmission, interior size and comfort, very quiet at high speed. Worst things about this truck: bed bounce, no VSC in 4wd, mileage sucks above 70.
