Default Issues with Tonneau Covers (rattling)

Have any of you had any issues with your hard tonneau cover rattling around? I have a 2010 5.7 Crewmax with a hard cover on the back, and the noise from it bouncing around is driving me crazy. I have it adjusted right , but the noise seems to come from where it is hinged on the front of the bed. My old 07 Crewmax didnt have the cover, and it was very quiet in the cab. Thanks in advance

ha. didnt even know they offered a factory cover. if thats the case take it back to the dealer and complain. can u post a pic of this "factory" cover?

hot dam. i found it on toyotas website..

im still betting it wasnt actually factory installed and more of a dealer installed accessory like the toyota bedliners and running boards etc....looks like they should be able to do something....

Ill be putting a pic of the truck on here in a couple of days. I assume it is a factory cover since it has the Toyota symbol on the lock. I really didnt need it but I got it with the new truck. I think it will be cool to have it in the winter, and also it should save me some gas mileage.

is the same as the one above? oh and forget the gas mileage savngs....does nothing. trucks have been designed for airflow and especially a itty bitty bed like a crew max has...not enough to catch airflow....but once you have one i doubt you will ever want to go back to a truck w/o one...we cant live without ours...although its not a fancy smancy toyota branded one its a cheap ol 500 dollar armorlid THAT DOES NOT RATTLE hahahahahahaha

Yup thats the one. I think I will take it to the dealer and see whats up. I guess im just really picky, it doesnt make alot of noise, but im comparing it to how my 07 sounded without one. The 07 got totalled this summer by a girl texting on the phone. I loved that truck, only had 22000 miles on her.

Try putting some soft foam between the cover and the truck. Doesn't have to be all around. Try it on all 4 corners first.

Do you have any idea who the mfg of the Toyota cover is? I'd guess Toyota had someone else make it for them and put their logo on it.

another suggestion...since its not a factory toyota part and is made by an aftermarket company, but sold through the dealers, there may not be that much product knowledge at the dealer level, u could try visiting the website for penda on that article i linked...and see if they have an email...they should know how to keep their cover from rattling...

is this a rattel or pos the gasket that is made to the cover that deflects rain is being caught by wind and hittin the cab .just had one hear at the shop fix was to trim the gasket about 1/4 inch until noise went away this happened mostly at hwy speeds

Children (and some adults) should not try this

Slide under it and have someone drive it around a SAFE area while you listen from inside in effort to determine precisely where it is coming from. Once you think you have it figured out, adjust, add some lube juice, weather stripping or whatever it takes, by trial & error.
