Cruising into town, I was over the scrap wood before I could react. I immediately suspected I took a nail but didn't hear anything. Another 2 miles and I'm in the gas station with the front left 85% flat.
They were able to plug the Michelen just fine. Just as I paid the 18 USD for the repair, I realized I never noticed the TMPS light? The tire jockey at the gas station said that "sometimes they take a while ..."
The tpms in the tires run off of batteries so in the interest of saving battery power, they only broadcast the pressures every so often. I wish I could tell you what the time intervals are but I have no idea.
The computer will not react automatically incase there is interference, that way if it misses signal or two it doesn't send a false alarm popping the light all the time. Sometimes there can be a delay of an hour or two.

And rumor has it that when the battery dies, you don't replace the battery; you replace the tire sensor. So you want the battery to last a while.
I'd like to get my hands on a "dead" one to figure out how to replace those batteries.
They should have programmed these sensors to start screaming when the pressure drops suddenly, so the TPMS system will actually do something for us other than tell us we should have checked the tire pressure yesterday.
