Default Nitto 295/70/18 vs Toyo 285/75/18 <2 weeks away

Hey guys, I'm within 2 weeks (probably a week) of getting new tires.

I've narrowed it down to the Nittos or the Toyos.

I can get the Nittos for $1013 OTD (no haggling) or around $220 a tire.

I can get the Toyos for $1106 OTD (no haggling) or around $240 a tire. Not bad considering both those tires go for more online.

Which would you all go with? The way I understand it is this... the Toyo and NItto are very similar with a slight traction nod going to teh Nitto. Toyo gets mileage award.

BFG is over 1500, so that's completely ruled out.

I need some more concrete pics for these tires. I've seen a lot, and both tires cna look very streety in odd lighting conditions.

I'm leaning hardcore to the Toyos b/c I kind of like the sidewall - or lack of the lightning bolts. But, I would go with the Nittos if were more than just 3/10s" wider than the Toyos on our stock rims.

I love my Nitto trail grapplers. Same size as you are looking at.

Some guys I know think that the Toyos are a little harsherr of a ride because the compound is harded. Also Toyos are slightly louder.

Just depends on your taste... I like both. It would really come down to which size you like better. Nittos are a little wider but shorter than the Toyos. I would think that for snow the skinnier tire would be better... but I am from the gulf coast and have no real word experience with snow.

Guys, I'm about 85% swayed toward the Toyos. Let's hear some reasons not to get them and go for the Nittos...

$100 for "10,000" miles more life isn't a big deal...

Oh yeah, and some more pics of each if you have 'em!

Let's try and maek this the Nitto and Toyo (of their rtespective sizes) picture thread. You guys know how hard it is to find pics? I've put in a lot of hours to see some pics of these tires and maybe have 5 of each.

Check my photo gallery for pics of the 285/75R18 Toyos. I went with the Toyos due to the slightly extra height, and the Toyos were available within 1 day. I was also fairly confident that the 285s would fit the stock TRD wheels. No complaints. It looks like the Toyos and Nittos have the same construction as best as I can tell. I run 35psi. Wear is good.

Thanks for the input. I've seen the tires on your truck and they look pretty good with a lift. It's hard to tell since you have a LB and i don't though.

How many miles do you have on yours again? What is the expected mileage?

I have about 25k on them and I should get at least 60k out of them. They are wearing evenly. My dad got about 65k or so out of his 275/60R17 OCATs on his F150 2wd and has bought another set. Good tires. BTW, I just bought a set of 275/55R20 Terra Grapplers for my wife's Yukon 2wd. We'll see how they compare...

You have two weeks to rack up another 30K miles

jk of course, but that seems like it's gonna be good enough for me. I will wait for others responses, but the Toyos are looking better and better.

I had Toyo's on my Silverado and was very pleased. They looked great and wore very well with regular rotations.

I have the Nittos and love them but they only have a Q speed rating. I would hate to have a supercharger and have to stop at 99mph.

Which Toyo's are you looking at? They make lots of different grades of truck tires with a lot of price difference. If you're getting the Open Country MT's for that price, that's a good deal.
