Default 2010+ style Eagle Eye LED tail lights

As soon as I saw the new LED versions Eagle Eye introduced I knew I was going to buy them. For a while I had Eagle Eye's 2007-2009 style LED tails installed and really liked them. I took them off to paint them but only got half-way through before real priorities pushed that project aside. Now I'll try to finish up soon and sell them to recoup some of what I just spent on these updated versions.

I think the new versions look PERFECT! I especially like that the LEDs are behind diffusers so they don't appear as individual spots of light. As much as I liked the unique pattern of the old versions the spotted look was the one thing I cared for the least.

Notice what's missing from the new style? It's kind of an issue if one is concerned about safety and/or legality: They did not integrate reflectors into any of the rear-facing surfaces (though they are present on the sides). Not a big deal. I already have a solution for this and will take care of it when I open these up for painting as well.

Until then, this is how they look on the truck...

How bright are they? I know I had some aftermarket LED tails on my F150 I had before and they really weren't much brighter than stock bulbs. Looks good though. I like em.

$255 (with free shipping) from a seller on ebay. There are several top-rated sellers offering these, all with prices very close to one another.

To me they’re more noticeable but I can’t say exactly how much brighter they are. The 07-09 versions have bare LEDs inside of tiny reflectors so those definitely have more focused light. With the diffusers in the 2010+ versions the light isn't as focused but they're still plenty bright. Tomorrow I'll try to take some side-by-side pics of these vs. the stock lights and vs. the 07-09 LED versions. Hopefully I'll have time to get sets both in full sun and at night.

I agree. I think there are a lot of great looking aftermarket lights out there but I just happen to really like the OEM emulations.

Here are the comparison pics. These were taken with the sun behind the truck and I tried to make sure the camera settings stayed the same.

The first couple are of the original stockers next to the 07-09 LED versions: one with the running lights on (barely noticeable, but expected in direct sun) and the other with the brake on. I had to composite the pics this way because only the right LED light is still together to be installed.

The next two are the new lights next to the stock lights: just running lights, then with the brake on.

The last composite compares all three styles with the brake on.

And here are the night pics. I don't have a tripod and I didn't take a lot of time dialing in the camera settings, but these should do. And I didn't have time to get all the same combinations as during the day...

    New vs stock - running

New vs stock - brake: further back and close up

    Both LEDs - running

    Both LEDs - brake

    Hey 'saurus,

I tried replying to your PM but the system wouldn't allow it (could be preferences or something). Anyway, sorry this is coming so late! Clearly I don't log in as frequently as I should.

No, I didn't apply any extra sealant to my tail lights and I have had no problems with them (nor with my last set). Both sets of Eagle Eyes were sealed really well. I'm pretty sure they seal them ultrasonically where the front and back halves are literally melted together with high-frequency sound waves. So unless you can find an obvious gap in that melted seam (or maybe if one of your bulbs does not seat tightly) your lights should be fine.

It's true that moisture will gather if there is a gap big enough to allow a leak, but all head lights and tail lights have vents built in to let them breathe through temperature and humidity changes. Sometimes sealing too extensively can cause just as much a moisture problem (fogging) as a leak.

I don't have experience with any other aftermarket brands but the Eagle Eyes seem to be quality parts. Keep an eye on them but I bet they will be OK.

Thanks for posting those comparison pics man. I have the older circular LED pattern set and I really like these new ones. I just wish that they would paint the inside of the blinker housing matte silver like the factory does. The Eagle Eyes blinker housing is bright chrome.

    Another pic request:

The previous LED model had 3 red LED's on the SIDES of the taillight to act as the side marker lights. Do they new models have something similar? Can you get a pic of the lights lit up in the dark (no flash) from the SIDE?

    THANKS!

No problem. Here are three more shots I took at the same time as the others. Hopefully they show what you're looking for. The small detail I like about these compared to the earlier versions is that the side-marker LEDs are recessed instead of sticking out. I wish they were behind a diffuser like the rears, but that's just getting picky.
