    Default Removed pillar tape

Hey guys so this weekend I decided to get off my ass and take the pillar tape off my 08 crew max.. All I did was take a heat gun to the tape for about 5 minutes soften it up real nice and peeled from the tab at the corner of the window.. Super easy all 4 windows took about 30 minutes.. If you get residual glue just take the heat gun to it again then just spray some wd40 on it and let it soak then just wipe it off.. (may need a little elbow grease) but it should come off without too much trouble then I washed and clay barred it... Looks like a whole new truck.. I love it.

mine's starting to peel at the top edges of my red '11 DC. This would be a great late night mod to to in my heated garage.

Ya.. Just be careful on red trucks I've heard some of them have paint blemishes underneath.. All other colors are perfect.. I got the idea from a long thread somewhere on this forum

Mine is Radiant Red and the passenger rear door pillar has what appears to be a buffer burn mark on it. Still looks better than the sctratched tape

They put the pillar tape on the trucks several years ago, the pillars used to get painted. But, when they got scratched when being built in Assy. dept. , the cost was high and time consuming, so they went to the pillar tape, if it gets scratched, it can be peeled off and new tape applied, easy to peel off and apply new tape. I think with the tape, the buyer now has the option to peel it off and have the original paint under if you choose to do so. Just thought I would give some insight on the idea of the tape on the pillars, cost savings.

What is the best way to remove the tape? What is the cost of replacement pillar tape if there is paint damage underneath? Thanks!

Yup, Tundra on the door is just boo. I look the SR5 emblems off as well. I'm still tossing around the TRD bed stickers. Hard to pull that trigger...

I didn't think I'd like the look of a debadged truck so I painted them black but I am now leaning towards fully debadging it..

21 something to replace the tape (if you so it yourself, not sure how to do that) but to take it off wait till summer to peel it so it's nice and soft orrr just take a heat gun and peel it... Read my post it says how I did it step by step..

I think last time I looked the tape was around $20 each. If you take the tape off and do not like it remove the tape from all of the doors, mask it off and plasti dip it.
