Default Who cares about gas mileage

After a recent trip to Mexico from Phoenix for bass fishing, and spending close to $400 for fuel, I began a thread asking what everyone gets for gas mileage while under tow. Well, I leave at 2AM tonight for another trip to Mexico for bass fishing, and you know what the last thing on my mind is..... All I can think about is flipping lizards in the brush up the river at Obregon, Sonora, Mexico.

One thing is for sure....we did not buy these trucks for their gas milage!!! I always like to remember one thing when I go fishing....that a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!!!! Hope you catch a bunch!!!!

It makes me feel good when I get out of my Ford F250 work truck which gets 7.5 mpg and get in my Tundra. Luckily I do not have to pay to fill up the ford.

I am not concerned too much about mpg. But then again, I gas up only once a month.

Being in college, gas mileage is sort of important to me. But I couldn't trade my truck for anything.

I know what you mean. I've been in a Camry Hybird all week while the dealership was sorting out issues with my TRD Supercharger install. Now that I got it back I'm so thankful to have it back!

I've noticed that I do get fairly nice mpg if I drive like a granpa, but we don't buy these 5.7 V8 trucks that can haul the space shuttle for mpg!

Yep - I was just thinking today for some reason that although I say I love my Tundra, it is the 5.7 monster engine that I really love. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice truck overall, but that engine - what a rush!

Screw the mileage - push that pedal down and enjoy!

Wanna waste even more gas? Pimp out your exhaust. Guaranteed tank drainer for at least the first few months.
Pretty sure my mileage dropped in half when I first put on my MBRP duals.

I care about mileage. I don't expect Prius numbers but my '07 4.7L gets 13.6 mpg at best. Most of the posts here claim that the 5.7L gets better mileage than that. I hope that there are some better options for better mpg with the 2014's.

Geez... ya'll act like this is some sort of huge monster engine..... It's a 350ci...<---same thing Chevy has been rocking since God create dirt...
Unfortunately... GM could not get the HP/TQ and fuel efficiency from a 5.7 like Toyota can....

Another thing that you have to look at, is that GM has since gone with a smaller displacement engine.... less everything....to add... they are shutting down cylinders to achieve this miraculous EPA figured MPG...

That is why I bought a tundra, I had a 2007 dodge ram hemi with the MDS system and hated it. Full size Trucks should not have great MPG's.

Alot of car makers are making these big trucks/suv's with better gas mileage at the cost of smoothness/feel of acceleration gas pedal reaction. Just traded in a 12 4runner ltd because of the retarded gas pedal/transmission sluggishness was Setup for better MPG's
