hey guys, I've always been a lurker in this forum and have had the courage to register and have to point out a few things I can point out about in the spy pics :
As you can see the indentures of the doors; the rough line on the bottom half of the doors following the lines of its form. I would think the main reason for the white door handles that are off with the first door is to fool people like us who like shooting spy pics and looking at them . At the end of these indentures of the second door you can see the the true endings of it and most likely the plastic cover's again, trying to fool us into thinking of it as a LONG cab. You can even see the indentures of the rear door windows! My conclusion is that the front end of this truck is totally of some other vehicle's and if you can picture the rear doors, it might even look like the bed's 6'!
It looks like the wheels and axles are only a 5 lug without a rear full floater (light duty without). Or, they put some phony wheels on to fool everybody.
[quote=KLS]I really doubt that the present Tundra chassis can safely control a 5 ton trailer. I'd want a long wheelbase 3/4-ton truck for that trailer and an engine bigger than 5.4L.
Ken,
The HD (3/4 ton) Tundra will be built at the old plant in Princeton ID.
they aren't using the same chassis..the truck is a full ground up redesign..bigger, stronger, faster..thats how we do.
All New Tundra frame Is stiffer ,stronger and better in term's of structure Rigidity and yes Agent is correct the frame is on an all new platform meaning ground up redesign ......
A toyota salesperson told me yesterday that he was at a meeting and learned the following,
The new tundra will be available next spring with a 5.4 L V-8 and 10,000 lbs towing ability. no diesel until a few more years and the truck will be much bigger.
I talked to another saleperson today and he tells me he just had been to a traiinng session on the new tundra with the 5.4 L V-8 (400 HP) will be in a 3/4 ton with 10,000 lb towing ability, and the 4.7 L will still be the base engine in the half ton, but mileage will be better due to a more efficient drive train. That's all he knew, other than the truck will be much bigger.
