I read on another forum, GM inside news I think, that Motor Week wrote an article that stated that a Toyota spokesman said that the engineers were having problems with the Hybrid system for the Tundra. Something about reliability concerns when towing and stuff. Anybody else see this? Sorry for no link, maybe I can find it and post it.

Does anybody know what models currently have the VVTL-i system? Based on the articles posted earlier, this would be the way to go on the new V8, with the addition of cylinder shutoff. I'm afraid Toyota will sink too much time on the Hybrid thing and not be able to get it completed for launch, making the "All-new for 2007 Toyota Tundra" just another full-size regular V8 truck that gets the worst gas mileage in the segment. That would be BAD.

Also, after looking at the pics of the FTX concept, the front end is starting to grow on me. Thats about the only thing besides the roomy back seat but to me it looks macho and tough. I doubt the new Tundra will look anything like it but IMHO I think it looks pretty good and it would definitely be unique and in today's market, unique sells big time. I imagine a different color would make it look a little less cartoonish.

Can't wait for more info to surface on the subject!

I also have concerns over Hybred's. I live in Canada, where winter road salt/sand can play havoc on all vehicles. I can't imagine what the cost would be for replacing coroded brake generators and other such equipment.

Corolla/Matrix XRS.

Don't know why VVTL-i is not widely used. Can't remember but I read somewhere mentioned noise problem.

Default Production Modle Debut?

Does anyone know when Toyota will debut the production model of the next Tundra? Will it be at the NAIAS?

Just think as the Next Full sized Tundra as being a larger Tacoma with more cutting edge styling with improved design and more feature's and option's not to mention more cutting edge power (all I am saying for now)
