Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/Tundra Owners Introduce Yourself He
Hello everyone,
Just found this forum a week or so ago and I've learned A TON! I plan on buying an 07 Crewmax 4x4 soon and have a ton of questions. Thanks to all that contribute here on the forum.
Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/Tundra Owners Introduce Yourself He
Hi all. I should receive my 07 Tundra CrewMax in 2-3 weeks. Joe Myers' Sales Mgr. intercepted a Super White LTD on the way to the "port" and changed the options pkg's. to suit my taste...........and pocketbook. The "Fluff Options" were deleted and I got what I wanted! I was referred to the Sales Mgr. by a guy I work with and let me tell you, after shopping around for 3 months and having to put up with all the salesmen's BS, it was truly enjoyable to work directly with "The Man" - no haggle for a change.
I'm selling my '04 Titan SE private party since the dealerships seem reluctant to give what "excellent" used vehicles are really worth. Another guy I work with went with me to check out the new Tundras and dang if he didn't buy a CrewMax LTD off the lot yesterday - and I get a finder's fee from the dealer..............Ain't life grand? The first order of business will be to chassis dyno prior to the mods, CAI for sure and maybe the TRD exhaust. I'm usually very active in Forums so I hope to be of some help to the members in the future. Perhaps the Houston Area owners can have get togethers, etc.

New member have a crewmax in slate metallic, unfortunately after 1 week of ownership got hit in the side by a cell phone woman. Tundra held up well but still sucks after one week! Was thinking of the first door ding but not this!

Hello,
First post. Long time, die hard Ford owner here. After 2 transmissions in 68,000 miles on my F-250, I figure it's time for a change.
Not a great start concening Toy dealers at the moment. Have been scouring the country for particular options and found one at a dealer 2000 miles away.
It was early on July 31st, the last day of the 60 month financing, I asked the salesman if he had any other colors...........I ended up calling back right at closing to find out they did have near the exact truck I was searching for.
Salesman said that Toy usually extends financing a couple days and not to worry about it.
On the 2nd (salesman was off on the 1st) we did all the 'paperwork" over the phone. Tried to bump me a $1,000 from what I had printed from dealer inventory. He finally agreed to the original price (which was still a $900 deal PLUS doc fees!!) but then informed that 60 months was now 1.9%!!!
I explained that this was an $1800 difference and he needed to eat his $900 profit even though I'd still be paying $15 more a month than just 2 days prior.
No go.
Why Toy would raise their rates later in the year while GM LOWERED theirs is beyond my meager comprehension.....I noticed this program is going till the 27th(?) maybe Toy will go back.
Anyway, If any dealers/managers/salesman out there read this, I'm looking for a Tundra CrewMax 4X4 with 5.7
Options are:
SR5 with navigation......this seems to be the biggest stumbling block, but I do not want leather.

dealers can't change toyota financial's deals.
gm and all other auto manufacturers need to have 0 percent all the time because they need to give all the incentives they can to get folks into their poor cars.

Never said they could..........just said he needed to lose his $900 profit for screwing me over. I would have taken the 1.9% at an invoice deal just because I wanted THAT truck.

Using your logic, the Tundra must be poor????
Let's not turn this into a Domestic vs. Toy pissing match.......Toy has shown they are more than human during the last couple years.
I dig the Tundra because I think it's the best out right now....I wish it had the Ford's frame (or the Ford had the Toy's powertrain) but the Tundra is the best PACKAGE IMHO.
Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/Tundra Owners Introduce Yourself He
the fords frame has it's downsides as well , rougher ride.
and it's not "his" 900 dollar profit that's the entire dealerships profite. he will probably get 150.
and you should be able to get it for about 500 over invoice give or take.
no 07 tundra will get sold as a loser till the 08's come in (which is gonna be awhile)
are you dealing with fleet guys? they give BY FAR the best deals and no haggling just an easy , good deal .
and the sr5 with navi is quite rare , i've only seen one at any show all year long.
to be honest aftermarket navi is better and MUCH cheaper. or just buy the navi from a parts dept and install it yourself . it's easier than all get out .

Ummmm.....you said "dealers can't change toyota financial's deals"
I said he needed to lose the $900 profit........I wasn't talking about the salesman. [BTW, most dealers pay 20% on the front half ......so $180. A "mini" is probably $75-$100]

Wasn't asking for a loser......in fact if he came back with a nickel deal, I MAY have done it.

I know they're rare, that's why I'd "allow" them to make the $900 at 0% for 60.
I'd rather have all the factory stuff with the steering wheel controls, JBL stereo etc.....ALWAYS ends up a cleaner install; PLUS it's at 0% where I'd have to pay for the $2,000+ Nav head unit/AMP/sub out of pocket.
Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/Tundra Owners Introduce Yourself He
go to a tundra prove it and the ride is much much worse.
i understand the 2k financed , but good navs are as cheap as 1100 nowadays andcan retain steering wheel controls.
and you lost me on the front half and mini convo . i don't work at a dealer but normally spend at least 6 hours a week at one and I know how much fleet guys make as well as a cheap sale will make for a regular salesman.

How about I go to trustmyownarse.com..........they both ride fine. The Ford has a superiour/stronger frame. The Tundra frame is more than adequate for its intended purpose. The Tundra has a better powertrain and brakes.
To me, the Toys atributes win out at the moment.
Salesman generally make 20% of the gross of the deal. On my deal the salesman would have made $180.....there are usually escalating bonuses as the salesman sells more units.
A "mini" is usually around $100 meaning any gross under $500 still makes the salesman some money.
Some dealers pay on the "back half" meaning if there's a trade, the salesman will get a % of that gross also. Sometimes there's spiffs to the salesman if they prime the customer for an extended warranty etc...
The finance guy, of course, makes his money off the gross on warranties, Lo-Jac, tinting and anything else he tacks on during the signing of the contract.
Not only did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, I was the Finance manager at one of the largest Ford dealerships in the country back in the day.
Believe me, you/I are not going to get a NAV/4 disc changer/backup monitor/12 speakers/440 watt amp/sub for $1,100........and the last thing I want to do to my brand new 35K truck is gut it for an install.
