I think I'll just put the 5.7 L badge on my Tacoma, that would be easier.

How about the same swap into a Lexus (LS400 or SC400). That will be cool. However, would it be cheaper to do a 5.7 stroker from the current 4.7? We are working on this. Resleeving the cylinders and increase stroke to 3.58" It will be a lot cheaper.

yea be cool to see but In my opinion it's pointless to gain a 5.7 liter iforce v8 do you know the cost involved in such a project not to mention the required 6 speed transmission with PLus and _ technology your better off buying the real thing..

There are many issues when doing a swap. You need the following departments:

1. engine ( I think a complete 5.7L engine is about $15,000 from the dealer)
2. Harness (Over $1,200)
3. ECU ($1,500)
4. Engine Mounts (Custom $300-500)
5. Sump Configuration (Not sure other Lexus Models are interchangeable)
6. Transmission (Might be cheap with wrecked truck)
7. Transmission mounts (Custom $3,00-$4,00)
8. Drive shaft (Custom $400-500)
9. Transmission yoke (Custom $300)
10. Interior wiring and gauges ($300-500)
11. Prolong down time... (at least 2-4 months)

There are lots of little thing about swap. Our site is pretty much the home of the 1uzfe, 2uzfe and 3uzfe swap. Lots of issues. As far as the stroker we are working on. The price range will be $6,500-$7,000 for a complete forged balanced and blueprint shortblock. Not cheap but still a lot less headache.

Toyota is knocking out the 5.7 at a rate of 150,000 a year.

Three years down the road these will be available on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
for $3,500.00 or less

and eventually......... as plentiful as a Chevy V-8......

I bought a 2004 Lexus LS430 6spd. Automatic off ebay with next to zero miles with convertor for $150.00 .

The Truck 6 speed auto has a shorter first gear - .

We are trying to find a 5.7 right now for our new race truck. The dealer wants over $17,000 for the motor and CPU! we may have found one in a totaled truck for $9,000 but now we have to make our own adapter plate to mate the 5.7 to a t56 tranny(the only 6 speed that can take desert racing) pics of our current race truck are in my photo album

If you turn it upside down, wouldn't that reverse it to 7.5 liter?

That would be one tail-haulin' Tacoma....

For normally aspirated - the 5.7 should shine - but for Turbo application I'd choose a 4.7 with Forged Internals.

The 5.7 has siamese'd thin wall cylinder liners - meaning Hot Spots similar to those FORD experiences with their 4.6 / 5.4 DOHC engines:

Since I sold my supra I've wanted to build another supra, one with the iforce v8... it would be mad! The Tundra 4.7 is very nice, but I couldnt even imagine what the 5.7 feels like! Does anyone know how tall the V8 is? And will they start making or do they make a 6sp manual or just the 6spd auto?

all v8 from Toyota have been Auto and I doubt they would ever add a stick with the _ and + mode used on the aisin designed auto Transmission..

Thank you, all this talk of swapping the engines, yet no one wants the aweosme Six Speed automatic transmission in their tundra, thats like as good as the motor in some cases.

You would need, custom made motor mounts, custom made tranny mount, and a MAJOR conversion of the shifter for the floor style rather than column style unless it can be converted to work the same. Then wiring and so forth....
