Default Oil Filter for 5.7L

Has anyone bought an oil filter yet? My local dealer doesn't have any, so I called Carson Toyota(LA), where I bought my Tundra. They said they don't even have the part # in their system.
I want to change my oil at 1000 miles, but I may have to wait until I can find a filter.
Also the dealer said that the filter is not a spin on. You replace the filter element and O-rings. They said that a # of Toyota's are going to this system.

It seems Toyota may be going to the cartridge system for the newer model vehicles. My 06 RAV4 V6 has the cartridge. I have not yet changed the oil myself. Does anyone know if the cartridge is any more difficult to change?

I will be able to tell you about that as soon as Toyota has oil filters available.
I can't understand why the dealers can't get them, or at least had them in stock. How can you sell a truck that doesn't have filters available?

It took about 15 minutes to get this out of the parts guy. He kept bringing me standard filters.

They aren't any harder to change. I like them. The Camry's are using a cartridge too.

I'm hoping they release a PureOne filter for it.

This is not the right filter for a 5.7L btw.......

The 5.7L uses a cartridge filter like BMW has used for many years. The picture of the filter from that web link is clearly not a cartridge.

Could be correct; prob just a generic picture. It shows a filter, not a leaf spring or a light bulb or a puppy dog. I would think on a new item that is a little different than the norm, they would at least try to show actual item.
