The owners manual says "Toyota Genuine Motor Oil" is used in your Toyota vehicle. You can bet if it was synthetic oil, Toyota would say so in the manual.

Again, not true. The truck is filled with dino oil from the factory. The "official response" from Toyota posted above has the correct information.
There's no such animal as dino 0W20.

Lots of guessing and assumptions and an official Toyota response saying conventional 0w20 which doesn't exist. Seems Toyota doesn't know either. If they used synthetic I'd rather had them spend the 50 bucks on the tailgate.
Toyota dealer parts dept's offer three types of genuine Toyota ISLAC GF-4 approved motor oil for Tundras and most other 2007 & 2008 models:
1) 5W-20 dino
2) 0W-20 dino
3) 0W-20 full synthetic
0W-20 dino is the factory fill
...................then who's refining 0W20 conventional? And if someone is (which I doubt), Toyota has cornered the market.

Haven't researched it fully, so I can't say. According to Castrol's site, they don't make a 0W-20 in Syntech, Syntec Blend or dino. Looks like the only offer 5W-20 in Syntech, Syntec Blend, or dino. AFAIK, you only need 0W-20 in very cold climates. Here in Calif, I use 5W-20.
But stop and think about it for a minute: Why in the world would Toyota put synthetic (Syn) oil in the Tundra when they ship it from the factory? It only increases their cost. And according to Toyota, once you go Syn, you don't go back. So shipping with Syn originally would mean you would forever be stuck with Syn oil.

...........and that's just another oil myth with regard to switching back. 0WXX will flow quicker than 5WXX to dry engine parts regardless of the temp, cold or not.

so i guess DINO 0W20 is not installed anywhere else but factory? so dealers carry this oil in a non synthetic? if it is manufactured i guess no body else handles it?

Just telling ya what the service guy said. Like I said, any given dealer will say something different. But they did put in the 0-20 synthetic without being told to.
I did a search at BITOG for 0W20 dino/conventional motor oil and found nothing. I don't think it's being refined yet but if it's available at the Toyota dealerships then great, I'll check there when it's time to change again and go buy some.

Read that email supposedly from Toyota. Doesn't quite seem correct to me either. Toyota has 0-20 in synthetic only. So either he is wrong about the non synthetic or the weight oil, but still wrong.

Why would they fill it with synthetic? Its over the course of the prodution run going to cost them more. Lets say it costs them just $5 more per vehicle, that over 200,000 units is $1,000,000!!
If they were doing it they would be advertising it to get something out of that sizable investment. Toyota might be big but they aint going be throwing a million dollars away and not getting anything out of it.
Toyota is successful because they don't throw money away.
They watch their pennies.
Yu got the idea?
BTW, for those that don't know, Toyota does NOT refine their own oil!!
So the meaning Toyota Genuine is BS. Common knowledge.

Toyota Japan is not in keeping with Toyota Global And Toyota USA.
The manuals and literature are diseminated from Japan where most of the engineering and design takes place.
By the time it is digested here in the US it is a confusing mess.....even to Toyota USA Reps. in Torrence, Cali.
I guarantee that yu will get different answers from different Toyota Reps. from different Toyota regions. Seen this again and again.
Been there, done that.
BTW, it is actually easier to produce a 0W20 in synthetic form than using Dino. From a base stock perspective.
