So what about the non syn Eneos 0w-20 shown on the non US Eneos site, right next to the selection of full synthetics, and the semi synthetics? It does not look like Eneos makes only synthetics exclusively. I don't have a Tundra at the moment, and would put what ever I wanted to in it after factory oil is drained, but no one knows for sure what is in it from factory until they pull a sample and send it to a lab. Why would Toyota tell the people on the tech line to state it is non synthetic?
Guess that answers the myth of don't use synthetic till after breakin.
Well, there's some truth to it. For example, if you JUST purchased a new trundra, you probably shouldn't change out the factory 0W-20 for ENEOS 0W-20 for at least 500-1000 miles. The reason being the ENEOS 0W-20 is of higher grade and is extremely smooth, so it will be difficult to break in the motor properly. So it's not that you shouldn't use synthetic all together, but just not very light weight synthetics to try to break in a new motor.
just dropped my off my coya for the 5000 mile service, they said since i had the pre-paid maintenance, they will only fill with 5w 20, but for $30, they will use the 0w 20, sound right to you??

They have the 5w20 in bulk but not the 0w20, however;
I take my own oil to the dealer but if I didn't, they would do a complete oil change for around $40.
Therefore, $30 seems pricey to me. You'd be close to paying for an oil change with dino oil. IMO, stay with the pre-paid and use 5w20 especially since its the middle of summer.
wow $40 for complete oil change with the 0w-20?? the going price for one qt. of toyota 0w-20 is $9.95

Holy Cow, do they provide the astroglide while they bend you over or do you have to bring your own?
I pay $4.75 per qt of 0w20 Toyota branded Mobile 1 full synthetic from my dealer. I buy 2 cases at a time.

Guys, i read the entire thread, and unfortunately i didn't see any posts compared to what my dealer told me. I was told that the 07's were released from the factory with 5W30. Toyota used 5W20 during testing and MPG tests to get the highest MPG number possible for advertising/goverment ratings. Furthermore, he told me that Toyota recommended 5W30 because it provides up to 30% more engine protestion that 5W20 (speaking of dino only). Was this dude BSing me or what? He has always been very straight forward and dependable......

I'd say he was bsing you what does your manual or the filler cap say for oil weight? That what would be going in my truck.
The dealers are idiots for the most part, they have no clue. You come up to them and say "Hey the Tundra came with synthetic right, cause its better" They are going to tell you what you want to hear so you go away. Besides what do they have to loose, how will know anyhow. So yeah its synthetic, is that what you wanted to hear? If not I will say it is convetional.
Thats what Obama does...tells people what they want to hear even if its not true lol.

Basically if a manufacturer certifies a vehicle's mileage with a 5W20, then it MUST instruct the consumer to use that oil.... Both in the manual and printed on the oil cap.

That's what I get for trying to do more than one thing at a time.
I was thinking you meant a difference between the price of 5w20 and 0w20 if they were both synthetics.
When I said $40, I was thinking about dino oil. My dealer charges $24.95 for up to 5 quarts for an oil change, then I would pay for the extra oil, but again that's not synthetic. I sometimes think people can read my mind since I can see them through my avatar.
i dont know how you get it that cheap, maybe you know someone from the inside, but here is the email from sparks :
We charge $7.76, but we can't ship oil.
Ken
How do I get it that cheap?...I ask.
The dealership I use seems to have no problem giving me a 20% disc if I ask...or I wait for a coupon/special, which come about every other month.
Granted, this is from January and the price of oil has gone up, but you'll see the discount. I will try to call today, once they open and get their current list price for 0w-20 oil.
