Okay, I didn't go through ALL the old posts so if it's already been mentioned you can beat me

I'm ashamed to admit that I had a brain fart one morning at 5am, and noticed something that I'm hoping to never repeat, and don't want to attempt again for verification.

If you leave the parking brake on and drive off, the truck will beep at you over a certain speed... sorta like the seatbelt chime, but lower pitch, slower and not as nagging...

My first thought was "WTF?" then "OOOOPS and i popped the brake out and it was quiet". Then I apologized to my poor truck during the whole drive to work.

Ya, it's the first time i've done it. The wife has done it in her car, and did it in the truck once when we first got it. Never heard the Beeping though which is why i figure it's gotta be speed based.

But as I said, not verified but there's nothing else it could have been (seatbelts were on, wasn't VSC, etc)

It's a parking brake warning, I've done it a couple of times.

Don't feel too bad. I drove a mile with an 8,000lb trailer with the parking brake on. Guess I never got fast enough for the warning tone to go off. I was more impressed with the performance when towing with the parking brake "OFF".

I don't usually even set my parking brake. But one night it had just snowed and my aunt's driveway is steep and was obviously slippery. So I set the brake, and backed out of her driveway. I got all the way to the end of her street (a quarter or a mile at most) and the chime started to go off. At first I was like WTF, i have my stupid seat belt on! Then I looked down and realized I hadn't disengaged the parking brake...

Just read the thread and didn't see this one:

Hill start assist (hill holder)... was surprised to feel no backward travel while moving from the brake to the gas on takeoff from a red light on a steep incline. Guess it has been around in the Toyotas, but I didn't know it had it.

It doesn't stay on for very long. Somewhere around here there was a thread of a guy that forgot that on the boat ramp and got out to check something. His truck took a bath.

A simple install of a DEI alarm would let you have auto up and down on all windows.

We have several vehicles in the household and I don't drive my truck every day. If I did, those switches would all fall easily to hand from memory, but they don't. So having them lit would be helpful. And even though I can generally find the lock/unlock, I can never remember if concave or convex is lock or unlock, and so I end up sitting there fumbling for a bit while there's someone staring at me through the passenger window wondering why I won't let them in.

Not critical, but it would be nice if they were. They ARE lit on the other cars.
I have three vehicles myself and don't have any problems remembering where the buttons are on each of those. They aren't lit on my 4Runner or Integra...

I drive my Tundra twice a month...

Maybe I should teach Memory Retention classes?
