One option is getting the spray-in bed liner which would add weight to the bed. The other option is that toyota sells a "waterbed" which lays in the back and adds 400# to the bed. I would not do this though.
Also, Californias are notorious for moving away. They invaded Colo, and will continue invading until all of america loses their conservatism.
It feels like every f******g freeway in Los Angeles is like that.
They are and now all the D**M Californians are bringing their CONCRETE FWYS to Las Vegas.
GO HOME!!!!
We never had a problem on the old broken to small and narrow spaghetti bowl.

cali and nev are not the only ones with this problem certain sections of phoenix freeway do the same thing to my double cab long bed. it can be very annoying as it appears to build up a resonance with the unloaded bed.
Wow. I have an '06 Silverado extended cab long bed and I'm not very happy with it overall. But, I must say it has a smooth ride and does not bounce when empty. Ohio has what has to be some of the worst roads in the country. I have also driven it to Nebraska (with a load in the bed) and Florida via I-77 (empty). This is worrysome, as I have been actively trying to find a DC long bed I like to trade the Chevy in on. I would alreay have a Tundra if they made a Limited DC long bed. Food for thought, I must say. A little off topic, but I will really miss the OnStar phone when I do trade, as I often end up in places hunting with no (Verizon) reception where the OnStar phone has worked flawlessly. It's surprising no other makers have been able to emulate this system.

Onstar uses the Verizon network for it's telephone equipment. The reason you get better reception from Verizon with Onstar is from the fact the Onstar antenna is external and has greater range. But it's still Verizon.

Keadog,
actually the problem seams to have more to do with the expansion joints in the southwest. here many of the freeways are completely concrete. Having lived in Ohio for fifteen years I can tell you that the concrete expansion joints here can be even rougher than the pot holes in the spring in ohio. the other thing is that the distance between the joints seam to come into play.

OK so I have seen all these threads about the bed bouncing and I am waiting on my order for my regular cab and wondering if this is problem with the regular cab/standard bed or only the longer wheelbase trucks?

I actually don't think it's a REAL problem with any of the models, but over-exaggerated internet FUD, but to each his own...

If I drive my truck that fast with empty bed, it will bounce or shake. I have dips and speed bumps here where I live. When I drive 5 MPH on these, the bed bounces. These are preety agreesive speed bumps. I haven't tried driving through them with the bed loaded like for example 300 lbs. The bed was designed to move to isolate the vibrations from the load to the cab. If there are no movement, every vibes will be transferred to the cab. Not gonna be a good ride. On the 18 wheelers, it's the opposite. The cab is meant to move, while the load sits securely to the frame by 5th wheel. This is not a problem, unless you are planning to do a Baja Race. In that case, you have to tune your suspension for that kind of driving. I suggest going the dealership and try driving one over bumps so you can see and feel it for yourself
I just notcied it the other day. I drove over a bit of a rocky road the other day with all my windows down and i heard this loud thud. I pulled over and got out to look and saw nothing. Got back in and continued to drive. BAM another loud thunk type noise after i went over another bump. Sure enough it sounded like my bed was slaming around when i went over bumps. I noticed my bed moves slightly when driving on the highway somethimes but thought nothing of this. I may of had bed bounce with other previous trucks but never had one this noticable. How do i fix this? I have the bed rug in so do i have to pull it out and tighten down the 6 bolts in the bed? If so, don't you think it is ridiculous i should have to do this on a brand new truck?
