I love the slow down replies ... pretty brilliant comment!! sheezus, am I allowed to go 65mph??? That's slower than the flow of traffic, but just so you know it also happens at 55mph!!! anyone who says "it's a truck" or "slow down" is obviously completely ignorant to what others have found on certain stretches of this type of concrete freeway ... and there is no "alternate route" to the freeway I drive to work except for 20 miles of surface streets. People get quite defensive in here when there is a hint of unpleasure rather than try to be helpful.

I have posted on this very topic before, but here we go again.

twice a year I drive from close to canada to San diego on I 5...when I hit the grapevine down into La the roads simply suck. My first time was with my then new 3/4 ton cummins, and I have to tell you that it full on shocked me how horrible it road emtpy. I just could not believe it. I went to home depot and bought 5 80 pound bags of gravel, and it made a huge difference. It put enough weight in the back (sit them close to the tailgate for best leverage) to allow the suspension to work. If the ride empty is bugging you, don't wait for the suspension to "break in" it just won't settle enough.

My 2007 tundra rides much better then my dodge, and I am heading south next month to test the dreaded, legendary LA freeway system again...

If toyota does realize and fix this problem on the newer models, I wonder if there will be a recall on those already produced... If the bed digs into the paint such as in the Ford video will they repaint the truck under warranty because that is not something that should happen!

"At the same time, the mix of low-profile tires and a heavy-duty truck suspension is always an uneasy one. This is particularly apparent on California's concrete freeways where the rear end can bounce along with the undulations to produce an agonizing harmonic that makes it impossible to have a conversation inside the cab."

--edmunds review of 2007 Sierra Denali a truck that they called: "a confident, muscular and yet sweet-natured luxury machine that rides and works like the pickup truck it is."

How do i fix this? I have the bed rug in so do i have to pull it out and tighten down the 6 bolts in the bed? If so, don't you think it is ridiculous i should have to do this on a brand new truck?

Maybe that off roading trip which really messed up your crewmax rear bumper had something to do with it LOL blame that on Lonnie

Hear is your picture by the way.

So might be a dumb question, does anyone have photos of this infamous California Highway. I'm trying to get a visual. I have a Crewmax on order and didn't notice anything during the test drive, but I spend a lot of time on the road and just trying to see if there are any of these type roads out here. I didn't take much stock in the ford video, but real world reports get me a little puckered.

Bingo. Well, the wife let me drive her truck again today. I played with the tire pressure and brought it down a lot. It still sucks hard on these roads. At 65, it really sucks. At 80, (speed of traffic) it feels like you're driving a fish that's flopping down a road which is undergoing an 8.5 earthquake.

At 55, its not so bad. But if you go 55 in any lane in California, you're going to get shot.

Though I suppose I love my truck, even if its built on a frame made from recycled rubber bands. I mean, I suppose having a flaccid truck is a small price to pay to drive the meanest looking, fastest half ton truck you can buy new.

Thanks MXSJW, I know we do have some roads out here like that. I also remember a section of I-35 in Oklahoma City that was especially rough, my
03' Tundra bounced everywhere. Eventually they graded the pavement and took off a couple inches off the top layer and that smoothed it out. Sorry to say I'm going to give the Tundra another test drive.

My General experience on the driving the 07 crew max is the New Tundra is planted on the ground much better not that the Old Tundra was worst because it handled good for a truck but the new triple tech frame is far much better on expansion joint's on the road feelOff roading has been tested as well and I feel the New Tundra exceeds pretty much all the expections I was looking for expect the radios still sux Navi or Not .Jbl is yet another disappointment with lame features and black trim looks bad but then again Toyota will be redoing the interiors in a few year's with a makeover..

I just purchased a 2007 Crewmax with the TRD package and it does have a noticable if not slightly irritating tail bounce at speeds of 55 to 65 on crappy sections of the interstate here on I-25 in Colorado. When I get up to around 75 to 80 it seems to slack off a little. I didn't notice it at all during the test drive because I drove on well paved roads. When I'm on newer sections of the interstate it smothes out nicely. I've only drove the TRD package Crewmax so I can't say anything about the other models, but I'm sure that the TRD's beefed up suspension has quite a bit to do with it.

The RC/SB is smoother than the long base trucks. The So Cal freeways are bad in some sections and you can get some bounce but nothing like One Pin has described. I have to say the RC/SB Tundra I have has performed the best on washboard roads than any of the other trucks I've owned.
