I just purchased a 2007 Crewmax with the TRD package and it does have a noticable if not slightly irritating tail bounce at speeds of 55 to 65 on crappy sections of the interstate here on I-25 in Colorado. When I get up to around 75 to 80 it seems to slack off a little. I didn't notice it at all during the test drive because I drove on well paved roads. When I'm on newer sections of the interstate it smothes out nicely. I've only drove the TRD package Crewmax so I can't say anything about the other models, but I'm sure that the TRD's beefed up suspension has quite a bit to do with it.
I was this close to buying the TRD...drove one home for about 20 miles and pussed out. They weren't real happy but the non-TRD Limited is a much better ride.
Bingo. Well, the wife let me drive her truck again today. I played with the tire pressure and brought it down a lot. It still sucks hard on these roads. At 65, it really sucks. At 80, (speed of traffic) it feels like you're driving a fish that's flopping down a road which is undergoing an 8.5 earthquake.
At 55, its not so bad. But if you go 55 in any lane in California, you're going to get shot.
Though I suppose I love my truck, even if its built on a frame made from recycled rubber bands. I mean, I suppose having a flaccid truck is a small price to pay to drive the meanest looking, fastest half ton truck you can buy new.
Amigo, go to home depot and buy a few bags of gravel, put them in your truck and see how much difference it makes. They are easy to move in and out but if you are bugged by it (which you are) try it out!

The roads in Michiagn beat all of the roads you guys are talking about. The bouncing is real annoying on I-96 between US-23 and Fowlerville. The dirts roads are pretty rough as well.
That's because you have lot's of snow and you guy's salt your road's. I Love Mi during the summer Mo's but couldn't face the winter stuff you have on your road's. I was in Mi for the Detriot auto Show and it snowed wile I was there so I learned how to manage that and Had Sano drive the 07 rental Camry since he is used to that stuff but your right Mi road's are pretty ruff..
I love the slow down replies ... pretty brilliant comment!! sheezus, am I allowed to go 65mph??? That's slower than the flow of traffic, but just so you know it also happens at 55mph!!! anyone who says "it's a truck" or "slow down" is obviously completely ignorant to what others have found on certain stretches of this type of concrete freeway ... and there is no "alternate route" to the freeway I drive to work except for 20 miles of surface streets. People get quite defensive in here when there is a hint of unpleasure rather than try to be helpful.
I've noticed a little bit of a shudder over sharp bumps at low speed (<5mph), but none of the bounce referred to. I've got 6K miles and driven across Lousiana on IH10 a couple of times (if you've been there, you know what I mean) without incident. On the other hand.... it is a truck.. isn't it?
Does anybody know how to alert toyota to this problem so they can do something about it? Maybe we could all send an e-mail with a link to the video or something... I'm sure if ford put that on tv it would get their attention and definately hurt sales.
My last post on this subject, all trucks vibrate more than cars on rough roads! I've owned most forms of the F150 and most forms of the 1500, my Tundra beats the ride on both. I could give a big fat one if the butt moves more (I don't know if that is a fact as I didn't watch my *** on the others either), it rides good and sometimes on rough roads it rides rougher than cars.
I went to the dealer to pick up a couple of oil filters & ran into the fleet mgr. who also drives the DC. He informed me that Toyota is aware of the excessive bouncing issue & is looking at a few possible causes. One he mentioned was the driveshaft & possible balancing problems. I am no tech or engineer, so I don't know if this would be a legitimate cause or problem for the bouncing. I will leave the discussion up to those of you who have more technical knowledge. I just wanted to pass on what info I was given.

"How does it feel pulling the trailer?" "What trailer?"
I have noticed it in mine on certain sections of the highway. Oklahoma has the worst roads ever. I think we rank 47th in road condition in the US. Bed flexes quite a bit, and I thought I had square tires the first time I experienced it. On smoother sections of the highway or on city streets the new Tundra is simply awesome... but I'm looking to add some weight to the back end to see if it helps with the ride.

People keep calling it a 'truck' issue, but no truck I've ever driven over that section or type of road has done anything like this.
The Chevy I used to borrow when I needed a truck rode a LOT rougher than the tundra, but it didn't act like this on that road. It just went 'fup fup fup' with no complaints. The Chevy didn't 'wiggle' when it hit bumps in the road. It just gave you a bit of a jarring impact, and it was done. Every time you hit a rough spot in the road with the Tundra (train tracks for example) it feels like you're riding a happy puppy that's wagging its tail.
I've also talked to various branded full size truck owners here at work with a similar commute. They had not even noticed the bad sections of road, and thought I was crazy when I described what the Tundra does.
The wife the other day asked 'why does it feel like the truck is going to go out of control when I'm driving on a bumpy road?'
Hmn.
I doubt there will ever be a 'fix.' You can't just replace the frame of a car like you would a bad ball joint, or alternator...
It's something we must live with, and hope that Toyota never fixes in this generation. Why? When we go to sell our trucks in 2-3 years (or 10-15 like myself) people are going to say "Don't buy those 07-08s, they have the wobbly frame!"
When the reviews in truck magazines says the 07 Tundra has a worse ride than a Humvee, that got my attention. My 01 with airbags does not ride great but it rides better than my Humvee. I will wait for a better riding one or look elsewhere.
I was planning on complaining to my dealer about the bouncing bed issue. Each time I roll over a speed bump in a parking lot, the bed bounces as though it's not bolted to the frame correctly. After reading this post, I'm begining to think I'll be wasting my time addressing this issue with my dealer.
