To further report, I have over 2000 miles on the replacement transmission and it is smooth as silk. I couldn't be happier with the service I got from my dealer and Toyota. I put over 1500 miles on the loaner Tundra they gave me and till this day, I still miss it
My 2007 Tundra .. 5.7L .. 6 speed trans. went out at 500 miles. The dealer was great and ordered a new one. I have had the truck back for only 2 days now and things seem fine.
I am still a strong Toyota fan ... but feel that TMCA (Toyota Motor Co. America) should extend the standard warranty.
The rumor was that that TMCA gave 100K warranties to those with blown cranks ... when they replaced the engines.
Has anyone heard of any extended warranties for transmission replacement ... especially at only 500 miles ??
Earlier in this thread I was criticized for a post I made concerning a possable recall of the 5.7 for crank shaft issue. I am sure by now you have all heard that Toyota is looking to recall 30,000 trucks made in Texas with the 5.7 engine issue. I was accused of trolling. I just thought I would remind everyone that I did in fact have the scoop long before it was anounced.

I really don't mean to stir the pot. I just wanted to clear my name here. I was wrongly accused of trolling and further critcized for making my first post on this site about a recall. The fact is that I do know someone in quallity control and was told about this issue some time ago and thought I would share the info. The following is a link to an artical from the Detroit News:
