If I lived near you I'd be more than happy to take an 8 hour shift for the break in so you'd be able to take the trailer for the holiday. Best of luck w/ the new motor.

Acutally still breaking in. Changed oil and filter at 200 miles. Bunch of metal in filter. Glad I did.
Good luck with you new motor and truck.

Dude, that's totally funny, that is how I brake my engines in as well, race quad ( I have two) motorcycles, and cars. That web site has been up for years. I just bought my Tundra Sunday, and am breaking it in ....secretly lol.

If you and I lived in the same town I'd let you take my truck (after we installed the gooseneck hitch, naturally). You could take it for the week and bring it back with a full tank. I'm going to order my own gooseneck hitch within a matter of weeks anyway so I could let you put yours in my truck and buy you a new one for when you got back.

I'm serious and not being cavalier just because there are 981 straight-line miles between our locations.

That is very noble. I also believe you are 100% serious.

That would be fine by me except for 2 things. 1- I hate driving through Texas because it puts me to sleep. It's like driving from Phoenix to Tucson. 2- my travel trailer won't pull well w/ a gooseneck. I love driving this truck. I have never enjoyed driving any vehicle the way I have this truck.Seriously,I have only been through the pan handle & it was quite boring. I'm certain there are many great places to see in Texas & will get through there to check them out. BTW I will only help break in the 5.7.lol

Sorry for the confusion. My post was intended for OTFM but I messed up by not saying so and then quoting you. Doh.

Notwithstanding the above, I live 40 miles into Texas from New Mexico in the Mountain Time Zone. If you think Phoenix to Tucson is a boring drive try Tucson to Las Cruces or El Paso to Albuquerque.

Yes boring it is, I just did Boulder to Las Cruces and Las Cruces to Austin the next day. Albquerque to Las Cruces is boring but not as boring as Pensacola to Jacksonville or Ft Stockton to Junction.

UPDATED INFORMATION !!!!!!!

Got my new motor in this afternoon & they already started installing it !!! I should have my truck back monday or tuesday.
Toyota corporate called me today as well and they are writing me a check for one month's payment ($590.00). As well as a 7yr./100k platinum warranty.
So, now i can pay for my broken window ($471), and i think i'll order a bugshield too!!

I'm fairly satisfied with the outcome so far, we'll see if i will be down the road though. I hope it don't turn out to be a lemon.
Toyota HAS gone beyond the repair though. They could have just replaced the cam, but they went further than that & replaced the whole motor, intake, exhaust manifolds & everything.

I'll keep everyone updated as time goes on.

Thanks everybody for your input.

That is very good to hear, sounds like you are happy and you will be driving it on your vacation?

Do not start letting the thought of it being a lemon slip into your head. If it becomes a lemon, so be it, but don't start down that thought path.

Think positive and best of luck with it.

Don't know if it'll be done by then or not but it'll be close. There may be a slight glitch in having the hitch installed in time.

Alright, no more lemon thoughts, only positive.

But i do think i will have other problems, but we'll see.

Thanks mainliner

$590 over 3 years = $21,240... I hope the tundra dosen't lose that much value in 3 years...

Yes I think it's high, when I priced leases they started me out at $625 a month. I shat myself and said FOR A LEASE?! they said what looks good, I said $300, they said no! how about $450, I said you go down from $625 to $450 how?! yada yada yada... I got them to give me the paperwork on the lease, did the math at home and the lease should of been ~$360.00 with the intrest compounded monthly on MSRP.

I purchased with 10k down my payments are $406

Didn't you say this truck is a lease? And your lease payments are $590? Am I the only one who thinks that is really high for a lease?

Great Job I see Toyota gave you a free Truck payment as well They did the same friendly "Good will" treatment to Me on my Brake Issues on my Former 2000 Tundra. . Good luck to you I'm very glad Toyota handled your case right but then again I know they would that was to be expected kept's us all returning again and again .
