OK, now just give the guy a break will ya. From what I can tell from his posts, this happened sometime between Saturday May 5, 2007 and Monday May 7, 2007. He is not going to have a bunch of information at this point. OTFM will post information as he gets it I am sure, but relax on the demands.
Thanks mxsjw, i have been very busy all day so sorry for the delay.
Yes, it happened mid-day on sunday. It started out as just another boring day, but sure as he!! didn't end that way.

FWIW If I were in your shoes I would push for a new engine. Why? If a portion of your drivetrain stopped moving while the pistons continued to move you may have had piston to valve contact. If they just replace the cam and send you on your way you won't really know if the valves kissed the pistons.
I here ya, this was my biggest concern.
New motor is on it's way & will be in SLC thursday & my truck should be ready for me to pick up on friday. We'll see.
Sheesh. The guy should get a new motor. Sheared parts mean that unless there's a 100% teardown, cleaning, then re-assembly, they're taking a chance, even if it's small. If it had 50kmi on it, then I could see them half stepping. But 3Kmi? $20K for the motor is a farce. Outrageously artificially inflated, like Toyota does with catalytic converters. Toyota should take that motor back to HQ and dope it out there and let the customer go on with his life. That would be the right thing to do.
And toyota is doing the right thing.......new motor on it's way!
It's highly unlikely that they'll be using your old heads as the broken camshaft sat in one of them. Most likely it'll be a fully assembled tested engine that's ready to go. Sounds like you did OK.
COme on---where are the pictures at Grab your camera we want to see some carnage of the motor?
I would def. ask for the ext warrenty, dont see why they wouldnt give it to ya
What about your back window you keep refering too? whats up witht that--isnt that covered by the factory warrenty anyway.
I didn't have the camera with me today, sorry. Yeah, i think i'll ask for a 7/100 w/ no deductible if they're available.
My boy said he accidentally broke it getting a gas can out of the bed.
Thinking of that, they had the window replaced monday, and the whole engine torn out down to the block. That was mid-afternoon. They definetaly kicked some a$$ that day. I dropped the truck off sunday night.
I would ask for a huge extended warranty, no doubt. IMO, your engine being replaced could have a possible negative effect on your resale. I personally would shy away from a used truck that has had the engine replaced unless the price was right. That's not to say you will have any problems, but at least they can offset some of your future concerns.
Just talked to the service manager today and here is the verdict.
It will have intake & exhaust manifolds and the whole nine yards. They may be using the existing heads, but dunno.
Something sounds off with what they have told you. I think you will get a complete engine for the following reasons a) They install complete engines on the assembly line. b) The intake and exhaust manifolds are attached to the heads so the heads must be there. c) The reason you are getting a new engine is two-fold; they want to make sure there is no collateral damage down the road and they want the complete engine back to try determine the cause of failure.
Personally, I would baulk if they attempted to re-use the heads. I would want to see the pistons to make sure there was no signs of valve contact. I'd also insist a bleed down test be performed on the bank of cylinders that had the broken cam.
