A replacement motor in a used truck means you are buying a used truck at used prices and getting a newer engine than you would if you bought the truck with the original engine.

OTOH you would have to wonder why the engine needed replaced. Was it abused or neglected? If so, the rest of the truck might be trashed too.

A replaced engine (replaced by a Toyota Dealer) in a used truck would be cause to ponder the circumstances. it could be either a good thing or a bad thing. What is difficult would be discovering the truth behind the story.

To me, this truck would be marginaly more valuable since the engine has fewer miles on it than the truck chassis and the work was done by a Toyota Dealer, under warranty.

TODAY'S LATEST NEWS !!!

Toyota has agreed to give me a free platinum extended warranty! I will be getting the paperwork soon.
This entitles me to zero deductibles / 7 years & 100,000 miles.

Anybody know more than that about the platinum coverage? I've never bought an extended warranty.

Should i be satisfied?

Thumbs up on Toyota, I knew they would do the right thing........
I doubt you will do any better than what they have given you at this point. You might be able to get them to make 1 payment for you for all the hassle etc. Its worth asking for ........ Good luck!

Only down side I see is that your truck will show a replacement engine at trade in. The serial numbers are not going to match. I think as long as you buy another Toyota at the same dealership, they will treat you right about it. If you trade for something else or at a different dealership, you MAY take a beating on the trade in. Otherwise, I think your getting a decent deal from Toyota.

They've just said the cam was a manufacturing issue.

Haven't got my truck back, the engine hasn't showed up at the dealer yet. They said they sent it UPS ground instead of Fed-ex. And all the gaskets didn't show either. Should get it this week.

Anyone know more about the platinum coverage i'll be getting? Is it bumper to bumper, or just drivetrain?

Good luck man. They told me my new transmission and t/c would ship in 2-3 days. Took seven business days to get the new tranny and t/c. The dealer is taking 2 1/2 days to R&R the tranny & t/c and that doesn't include the four weekend days that I have to wait during the two week period.

2 1/2 days to R+R a transmission? That should be a 3-4 hour job tops. I can't imagine taking 2 1/2 days ...... a good mechanic could change it in less time than that using a crescent wrench!

that's like the Ball Joint issues we have been having? i do not buy it being a lubrication issue and if it was after 6 years you think it could have been taken care of but NOPE!! they have a manufacturing issue with cams?? that is not good and i just hope itdoes not snowball on them because people are driving and using the new engines hard!! too many manufacturing issues could be UGGLY!! Good luck with your truck!!

Should be bumper to bumper and zero deductable. Doen't cover brakes (pads) or tires and I'm not sure 'bout belts or hoses. Haven't gotten my package yet. List price for 6 yr 75K is $1540. There is a check box for $0 or $50 deductable. Make sure yas get the $0. Good Luck.

Did they say what part of the cam broke?
