that's like the Ball Joint issues we have been having? i do not buy it being a lubrication issue and if it was after 6 years you think it could have been taken care of but NOPE!! they have a manufacturing issue with cams?? that is not good and i just hope itdoes not snowball on them because people are driving and using the new engines hard!! too many manufacturing issues could be UGGLY!! Good luck with your truck!!
I was told by my dealer that the ball joint issue was an installation problem?
According to my svc manager, the cam issue will effect 40-50 tundras out there. So they're narrowing it down so they can send letters.
I don't think it will snowball on them, the 5.7 is quite similiar in design to the 4.7. And the 4.7 has been almost bulletproof. Both of mine were, and i used the he!! out of them. I pulled trailers with both & i was always full throttle.
Should be bumper to bumper and zero deductable. Doen't cover brakes (pads) or tires and I'm not sure 'bout belts or hoses. Haven't gotten my package yet. List price for 6 yr 75K is $1540. There is a check box for $0 or $50 deductable. Make sure yas get the $0. Good Luck.
Did they say what part of the cam broke?
Hope you're right about bumper to bumper. I'll be sure to check the zero deductible.
I seen with my own eyes what part of the cam broke. It broke right in half right behind the front bearing. There are 4 cams in this engine, and it's the left upper one that broke ( looking from the front of the truck).

So it was the passenger side Intake cam?

No, i haven't.
I purchased it on 02/12/07 because my first lease payment was withdrawn on 3/12/07. My brother's concerned as well cause he got his a week after i got mine.

Come on man, tow with confidence!
This is a LEASE??? If so the demand for a new truck to me wouldnt matter too much unless you plan to purchase later.

Well if it is leased, then do you care what the warr is? Or are you going to buy out the lease when it ends? If you are just going to turn it back, then who cares!

I may end up purchasing later, but i want the warranty for piece of mind mainly.
Although that's all it is........piece of mind. Hopefully the truck ends up being descent, if it has to see the shop 2 or more times, then it'll be going down the road. I don't have the time to screw with it if it ends up being a problem truck.
We'll see. Hopefully the technicians are competent enough to do the job right.
Yes, it's a LEASE. I'm self employeed so i choose to lease.
Just so you know what you are dealing with, research the lemon law if your state has one. CA has one that I used about 10 years ago and got a brand new truck from Dodge after the original truck puked the trans out. The truck went back to the dealer for problem after problem and I finally demanded a new truck via the lemon law. Not wishing any problems on you or your truck but know the law and how it applies to your situation.

Will do.
I don't know Utah's lemon law. But i'd imagine I'll be taken care of on it.
That's why i said, hopefully the techs are competent enough to do the job right.
