I may end up purchasing later, but i want the warranty for piece of mind mainly.
Although that's all it is........piece of mind. Hopefully the truck ends up being descent, if it has to see the shop 2 or more times, then it'll be going down the road. I don't have the time to screw with it if it ends up being a problem truck.
We'll see. Hopefully the technicians are competent enough to do the job right.
Yes, it's a LEASE. I'm self employeed so i choose to lease.
hey i understand reasons to lease.. i am not commenting on that . please dont take me out of context.
because it is a lease... maybe you could push harder for a new truck?? are you a TFS Encore customer? They seem to love encore folks a TFS

Yes, i am an encore customer & i just mentioned that with my corporate case worker. Just got off the phone with him & i am NOT HAPPY right now.
Just found out my motor has been sitting in Kansas ready to be shipped for a week. It was just barely shipped today.
We have a memorial day camping trip scheduled & more than likely, i won't have my truck. Either that, or i'll have it & because they were rushed, the damn thing will break down. Cause they didn't do something right.

Motor in Kansas ? I Know there made In Alabama intresting. Toyota will Not usually give you peace of mind on what Choices of car/truck you drive during the repair process this is Normal. The Service Outcome is Not like a Lexus customer or a BMW Dealership which provides a loner based on what you drive. I know your entitled to a Truck but sadly that is just the outcome and I've expected this as well Don't be too pickey but I know after paying $35k plus on these truck's Service better be top notch after all Tundras arn't cheap and you get what you pay into...
competent technicians yes their are a few and good luck finding "one" in a 10 state radius!!
This is my biggest b!tch exactly. I'm rushing them to slap the motor together quickly so i can go on a traditional family camping trip. Which more than likely WILL end up having problems.
The thing is........i've been waiting for a gooseneck hitch for 3 months and FINALLY it's on it's way. But without a truck it isn't going to happen.
I had a long conversation with my case manager, and after thinking more about the situation, I called him back & left a message that if they really want me 100% satisfied, they can give me a new truck. If they want me to continue doing business with them ( which will be 14 + vehicle's). Then this is what they can do. How am i supposed to put 500 miles on the new motor in 2 days? I'm leaving wednesday. If i get a new truck this week, i'll have enough time to do so.
I won't feel comfortable with the repaired truck as much as a new one. Yes, 7/100k warranty is good. But it's the BS time involved with problems that concerns me the most, not so much the cost of repair. Other than 20k for a new motor.

That's what i thought......Kansas? There's no plants in Kansas.
They told me i could have a tundra if i wanted it, i wanted something better on gas so they let me use an 07 camry with 1000 miles on it. The truck wouldn't do me any good now because i own a fifth wheel trailer.
I told them i expect to not have major problems like this. And i have never had to do a heart transplant on any of the other 13 toyota's. He!!, this one only has 3000 miles on it!

Not always does something this heavy get shipped directly. UPS will not show up and take it as part of the daily pickups. I would believe the shipping company has a hub in Kansas.
Mind you, they do not build it Alabama and then put it in back of a truck and have one of the employees look up the directions on mapquest and tell him here's a gas card, now get driving.

That's fine, i understand that. But when the svc manager told me the motor would be here in 2-3 days, that's what i expected. Evidentally the tracking number was wrong & so the rep was there today & straightened it out. Great, 5 days later the motor is finally on the way.

Very sorry to hear about the extra trouble.
On the positive side, it is a lease and you have a 100k/7 year warranty, so even if you get the truck back the day before you are to leave on your trip, screw the break in period and hook the 5th wheel up and get to towing.
I would not worry one bit about driving the brand new engine home and hooking up to my trailer and going on vacation without breaking it in. If you drive it long enough to check for no leaks and proper operations then beark it in by towing. Believe it or not a load on the engine is better for break-in than pussy footin' around with heat cycles and other old school tradition.

He's suppose to call me tomorrow, We'll see.
Love reading your thread, sorry you had issues, but at least you get a 7/100, I would break it in quick for power see the thread on how to. Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power
Ive done this to at least four Tundras two 07 5.7 and two 02 Tundras, with the salesman's help Just drive it like you stole it.
Biggest worry for me would be, all the little things associated with the install, you will be back to the dealer for something, I have no doubt.
Thanks mln, mainliner, & morepower for the reassurance.
The svc manager actually told me it would be okay but to drive it easier. I see where you're coming from on breaking it in hard. I've had vehicles in the past that i've done that with & they did have morepower, but it may sacrifice gas mileage. Dunno
We'll see what they say tomorrow on the situation.
I called corporate after the long conversation & asked for a new truck. Don't think it will happen, but it's worth a shot. I've been a very loyal client of theirs for 19+ years but I'd imagine they'll counteroffer with something else, who knows.
