Default TRD Package Price Difference Rationale?

Price to get TRD Off-road for a DC 5.7 4x2 standard bed SR5: $1400

Price to get TRD Off-road for a DC 5.7 4x2 standard bed Limited: $100

(Both prices above are from edmunds for the 90241 zip code).

I know that the SR5 package gives you a sliding rear glass with privacy tint and also some fog lamps (which are standard on the limited models), but I find it very hard to believe that those two items alone account for the $1300 price difference...

Thanks

with the trd you get the trd alloys, so instead of the normal 18" rims on the sr5 you upgrade to the alloys then the limited comes with 20's so then when you get the trd they drop it down to 18's

According to the tundra chat folks, the limited double cab comes with 18" alloy wheels, so basically you're swapping 18" alloys on the limited level. The SR5 is swapping styled 18" steel wheels for the 18" alloy wheels. I guess that would account for a big chunk of the price difference...

Negative. The Limited's come standard with 18's, while the 20's are a ~$1000 option.

The SR5's DO NOT include rear slider/deep tinted glass on reg cabs and DC's, so the TRD pkg adds these two options (and a few others) and 18" alloy wheels which make up most of the cost of the TRD. The SR5 DC's (EDIT CrewMax; not DC) get the deep tint rear vertical slider, but per the brochure the rear door glass is light tint unless ordereed with deep tint; or a pkg that includes it. On Limited's Toyota just substitutes a different 18" alloy wheel/tire pkg for the standard 18 alloy. The rest of the content is just different items substituted. Go to the build site and build an SR5 with the options you want and make sure you order the factory, not port 18"alloys, and add the slider/deep tint, now build a TRD equipped the same and you will find little difference in price. A lot of folks assume the SR5 comes with alloys, and almost all think the SR5's all have deep tinted glass.

The SR5's DC's do not have a vertical sliding rear window. The vertical sliding rear window is only available on the CrewMax. The TRD package includes:

off road tuned suspension - Bilstein Shocks
285/65/18 BFG tires
18" wheels
front tow hooks
chrome front and rear bumpers on SR5
engine skid plate
fog lamps

and a couple of other options depending on cab configuration.

Yea, I knew that, was just forgetting and calling the CM by the old name. As much as folks here fussed about the names I should have known better. The CM gets the power vertical slider............. The remainder is correct; the TRD pkg price is quite low IF the person is already planning to get the deep tint/slider and 18" alloys/tires. Thanks for the correction.

Does the big aluminum skid plate come with the TRD package or do they use a different one?

My RC/SR5 came with 18" steel wheels, sliding tinted rear window and no fog lights. No mud flaps.
