I owned a Titan 04, really turned me off. Power was great, for the time best in class, towed great. With the off road package the front suspension would shutter over every bump. The interior felt cheap but roomy. I traded it in for an 05 Double Cab Tundra and enjoyed driving it every day much more.
I have a Crew Max now much better power with all the room and a great ride, even with the off road I like the firmer ride. Comparing the two off road packages the Titan had uncontrolled movement.
The Tundra has a full size rear end and the Titan has the same rear end as the mid-size Frontier.
Case Closed.
Keep in mind for 08, the Titan gets long bed and standard bed models across the board.

Chicks & I are members of this and ClubTitan, We all share one thing in common "The love of our trucks"! The Titan and the Tundra are the two best 1/2 ton trucks out there IMO, If you compare the two you can find positives and negatives on both of them. We loved our Titans and now we love our Tundras, I guess what I'm saying is why waste your time bashing each others trucks and just enjoy them.
Ohhhhhh and for Tundraaaaaaaah, We built that Titan from the ground up so we know all the specs and the equipment that was installed on it. If you need more info so the next time you claim it you'll know what your talking about just shoot us a PM....lol!

I have a friend with a Titan and he loves it. I've driven it once, and it's a great driving truck, excellent drivetrain, excellent low-end torque and transmission. He had some brake problems like most, but Nissan fixed and he's all good now. I've seen some tests of the Titan, and offroad it looks like you can beat the hell out of that thing and it keeps goin' and goin'. Not sure about the Frontier rear-end, I'm surprised at that considering I've heard of no Titan rear-end issues.
The Tundra appears to have the drivetrain as well, but it hasn't yet proved itself as one that can be beaten and keep going and going, only time will tell.
What I don't like about the Titan, is:
#1 My friend said on a good day he might get 14mpg, but usually he's looking at less. Nissan bumped their hp/tq #'s up this year, and their EPA estimate down even more to 13mpg, which means it's probably getting like 12mpg for the new '07's.
#2 Exterior looks, it's a matter of opinion of course, but I'm just not a fan.
#3 Interior, it's not terrible, again this one is subjective, but it just looks industrial instead of a refined design.
For the next gen I'm confident Nissan will fix the looks issues dramatically. While this is subjective, let's face it, it's still the #1 complaint, and in most cases the ONLY negative complaint I hear about the Titan. If Nissan fixes that, they'll have a surefire winner and improve their sales dramatically.
I bought a Tundra for several reasons:
#1 Toyota trucks have always been good to me. Romp 'em, roll 'em, sink 'em in a pond... they just never failed.
#2 Looks over the Titan
#3 Gas mileage over the Titan in real world results.
#4 Power
#5 Jack Bauer drives a double cab
That's it plain and simple. I think both are good companies and good trucks.

Got nothing against Nissans. Actually, my first truck choice this go around was a Nissan Frontier over a Tacoma to replace my existing Toyota "pickup". My first new vehicle was a Datsun "king cab", and I was ready to give them a go again, as the featureset of the Frontier was more in line with what I wanted.
But... Decided to go the travel trailer/toyhauler route, so ended up browsing "heavy" half-tons. Tundra won out, but it could have been something else. I'm more of a "what's best for me right now?" buyer than fiercely brand loyal.
So why did you decide on the Tundra over the Titan?
Thanks
One thing: Styling
I'm sure the Titan is a great truck, possibly one of the best out there. I wanted to try a foreign truck for a change and considered the Titan as a possibility and actually looked at a few. But I never could get used to the exterior styling from the day they came out and IMO it's a truck only a mother (or nissan lover ) could love. Some of my complaints are the oversized plastic piece on the tailgate looks cheap, front end looks a little bit snaggle-toothed and the overall exterior looks to boxy for me.
Some people say the Tundra is butt ugly (especially toyota haters) but that is one truck that the first time I looked at I really liked. As with everything else there's things I might change on it, but overall I think it's a great looking truck.

My honest opinion is that I actually like ALL trucks. There are things I like and dislike about each brand. But that's what makes things interesting. Mix it up a bit, you know?
I remember the first time I saw the redesigned Dodge Ram when they made the big design change in the early 90s I believe. At first, I thought it was Fugly. But after a bit of time, I think they actually look good. I think it happens anytime there is a big change in something we are accustomed to.
Anyway, lets drive our Tundras, Titans, Silverados, F-150s and Rams and enjoy the ride!
FWIW, a good friend of mine has a Titan and tows his racecar with it frequently. He's had 0 problems with it, never been to the shop and
loves it. However, he's in the minority in that category which is why I'm not seriously considering that truck at this point for my needs.

You have never heard of the Titan's rear end failures? The Titan is infamous for its rear end failures, just go to a Titan forum, rear end failures are one of the top problems. The Titan also has front diff problems and has front axle problems.
As far as being able to beat the hell out Titan off road and it keeps going and going, I have to laugh at that. 1/3 of my mileage is in 4WD and my first Titan fell apart at 9600 miles and was bought back. My Second Titan lasted 22k miles before it fell apart, over 4k of my miles on the second Titan were driving to the dealer. The Titan won't take being driven on rough roads for long, it is designed for pavement.
Another problem is the cats falling apart and being sucked into the engine.I had my front doors replaced 4 times because of cheap parts, the window motor and windows would drop to the bottom of the doors from driving on rough roads. The BCM module fails every 5k miles because it can't take a few potholes. Oh, and don't forget the rear axle seal failures that nearly every Titan has. I could go on and on, my second Titan had more than $12k in parts replaced, not including labor.
The worst part of owning a Titan is that once a problem was fixed, the "fix" was only tempo ray, replacing cheap and poorly designed parts with poorly designed and cheap parts results in multiple failures.
The only reliable thing part of owning a Titan was that I knew I would be going to the dealer every 750 miles or 3 weeks.
It is safe to say that I am not a fan of Nissan's quality.
I don't know the specifics, but the Nissan Titan was just added to the Consumer Reports list of "Bad Bets" for used car/truck purchases.
Tundra (and a bunch of other Toyotas) are on the list of "Best Bets".
That really surprises me. The Toyota hasn't even been out that long, how does anyone know it's a best bet yet? Granted I bought mine cause I think it will be based on Toyota's reputation, but I don't know for sure.
