1985 Toyota Pickup, 22r, 5spd, tcase with Trail Gear 4.7 gearset! Axles have 5.29 gears and the rear has a full spool. 98:1 crawl ratio & the hand throttle is a pretty sweet combo.
22R Engine was rebuilt by prev owner with camshaft, bored out, “extensive headwork”, headers, and topped off by a Demon Carb. Once the engine is warmed up, runs great all day, but being a “Race” engine it is finicky. I have a 22RE that I was going to swap, I will include it for an extra $250.
Rear bed was bobbed, and then custom rear bumper, side rails and front bumper were all added to match the 3” body lift. Springs – appears to be a custom pack on the front, nearly “level”, rear may have a little lift, hard to define.
35x12.50 BFG All Terrains, mounted on 15x10 rims fit just fine under there, a little rubbing at full steer, against the front springs. Tread is great, tires run very smoothly!
ECGS also installed my hydra ram assist, added several inches to the power steering resovir and tapped an IFS steering box / remounted it to the front. Then installed Trail Gear high steer kit / arms!!! The front driveshaft was a bit short, so while they were at it, had em install the Trail Gear extended spline front driveshaft!!!
The truck does have all the equipment for running a/c, but the belt was cut off, I assume that means it needs a recharge / prob upgrade to the newer stuff. (The spare engine also has compressor, etc!)
I installed a brand new battery, top of the line from Wal-Mart, a month or so back. On the front of the truck I have a Warn 8274 winch, VERY beefy, truly the king of winches. Right now it powers IN, but not out, I am assuming solenoids, which are like $9 each x 4.
My dad and I worked together on the paint job, you can find a few write-ups about it on NC4x4, basically we filled in the gaps using bondo, shaped everything and then painted it with
Rustoleum enamel and the white is from Tractor Supply. This is a pretty low cost solution that allows you to repaint very easily if something happens.
I got against a tree on the left front corner, door and cab, so we pulled it all out, smoothed it down and shot it white again!
The paint scheme is very similar to the old Ivan Stewart Baja Toyota, but with the modern TRD colors. The rear bed has a plastic
liner, you can see from below it has some pretty big rust holes, but the
liner covers them nicely / no need to address them any time soon.
Interior, the seats are from an Acura from what I understand, pretty comfy! I think the truck is showing 170k or so which is probably accurate for the vehicle. It has a sunroof and rear sliding glass windows, so the air flows thru quite nicely when going down the trails!
You could keep this as is, a “turnkey” crawler or start upgrading, front locker, etc and make it pretty extreme. As is, I have driven it all over URE, Callalantee, etc with no issues.
The truck is for sale at $5500, or open to offers / trades, etc. The best way to get in touch with me is via email at
