Yes.... thank you Mustang!!
A moment ago I also tried to remove the 6x9 speakers from the back of Yaris sedan with no luck.
I could not figure out how to detach the speaker covers to access the screws.

Do you have that PDF?

Thanks

These should give you the jist of things

The speaker covers do not come off, you have to remove the whole package tray

Question Re: how to change stereo in yaris

Great pdfs, but what I'm wondering about is this: Where did you come over all those PDF files, and do you have one that says anything about the wiring to the integrated Stereo, I am trying to hook up a CD/MP3-player in addition to the excelent integrated stereo, but I am having a hard time figuring out which wires goes where.

So far I have figured out the front and back speakers, but I dont have a clue what cables are 12V+ , Memory 12V+ and Ground

Any help would be really great!

Thumbs up Re: how to change stereo in yaris

Success! I poked around the net and found this page:

Car Audio Wire Diagram Codes Toyota - Factory Car Stereo Repair - Bose Stereo, Speaker / Amplifier Repair

The 10 pin and 6 pin turned out to be exactly the connectors I was looking for, I double checked them and they seemed to fit my internal car stereo perfectly. So I draw a chematic over how the cables should be joined together and went down to my garage to try this. And yes, it works! So now I can enjoy the Toyota's excelent RDS radio, as well as play MP3s from my JVC car stereo! Hurray!

Here are a simple description of the connectors behind my integrated Toyota stereo: (The view is when looking on the connectors on the device itself)

10 PIN connector:

[_4][_3]________[_2][_1]
[10][_9][_8][_7][_6][_5]

6 PIN connector:

[12]________[11]
[16][15][14][13]

There is a third connector as well, but it doesn't have anything to do with the third party car stereo we are inserting

What these numbers mean:
1: Front speaker right +
2: Front speaker left +
3: 12 V +
4: 12 V constant current (straight from the battery, aka backup/memory current)
5: Front speaker right -
6: Front speaker left -
7: Ground
8: Not used
9: Not used
10: ILL + (unknown purpose)

11: Rear speaker right +
12: Rear speaker left +
13: Rear speaker right -
14: Rear speaker left -

As it turned out, all my cables could easily be inserted directly into the Toyota connectors and taped together in pairs with their matching mate from the cars own wiring. Therefore I saved myself some cutting of wiring, buying of any converters and extra cables etc, and a whole lot of time!

Only problem was that the new car stereo was slightly to large, and thus the ash tray is now a couble of milimetres closer to the gear shifter :S

.. Oh and by the way, my car is an Toyota Yaris Verso 2001 Modell (European), but it seems the car stereo from toyota really hasnt changed since the first Yaris, and the Verso has the same one that the ordinary Yaris has.

Sweet
MOST ALL Toyota stereo wiring uses the same colors for everything.

Hello everyone,

As you can see, I am new to the forum. I been messing around with my 2007 Yaris Radio and this post has been great. I am adding a Pioneer AVIC-D2 with this kit: http://www.metraonline.com/_assets/m...NST95-8202.pdf
and it looks great. I have completed the wire harness connections and was about to install the stereo then I saw a 3rd connector that was not listed in the above post. I also checked the current wires and it looks like some of the wires that should be for speakers, have a larger gauge that would make me think they were for power or ground. I have the sedan with the 1 disc cd player that plays MP3s as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to damage anything. I will post pictures when I am done for you all to see what it looks like. Thanks

Please post a picture of the extra connector your reffering to, and the wires that go to it.
Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. After a bit of testing with a multitester, I decided to try the standard aftermarket Metra harness. Good news is that everything works great. I am really not sure what that 3rd connector is for, but I will post a picture as soon as I can. Now to my 2nd issue. This nav unit would like me to connect to the car's spead signal. Any idea how I do that? All I have is a single wire that needs to be connected, but I am not sure where to start. The manual has little to offer. Thanks again for any help.

I need to know if you have ABS, to help locate the speed sensor wire.

Is the 3rd connecter 1 of these I just posted?

It appears to be a PINK wire.
You can catch on the back of the combination meter at connector D1 pin 17.

Or you can catch it at connector AD3 pin 11 also pink wire
or you can catch it at connector AA2 pin 6 also a pink wire

see attachments for location & removal of combination meter

p.s. joining TS would give you access to all this material and a whole lot more
