Default Dome Light

Hello All:

I recently purchased a Yaris 3-door, automatic, Bayou Blue (in the United States). I drove it for the first time at night and I noticed that the dome light turns out in just two seconds after the door closes. Does anyone know how to adjust the light the light so that it will stay on longer?

BTW - I love the car. I have only seen two on the road in the last month - the four door seems more popular or at least I have seen more of them on the road. I have installed a cargo net and mud flaps, both of which were purchased on e-bay at a much lower cost than than the dealer in my town was asking for the products. I have aslo installed my Sirius radio - you gotta love the AUX jack!

Thanks for any help you can provide! Peace!

Robert

Yes - the light comes on when the door is opened and goes out when closed. In all the other cars I have owned the dome light typically stayed on for at least 10 seconds ( so you could find the ignition, etc) before dimming.

Attached is a list of the customizable lighting parameters. A dealer can change the default settings.

I just returned form the dealer and was told that they are not able to reporgram the dome light on the Yais 3-Door LB. So, it looks like I'll have to live with it. Oddly, the dome light stays on for 15 seconds after placing the car in park and have removed the key.

Robert, I too dislike the fact that the light does not stay on longer, and yes, I suppose we could leave the door open until we start it but here in ND that could get a bit chilly during the darkest months of the year if you know what I mean.

Lovin' my Yaris in ND!

Thanks T. The lack of the diming light is just about the only thing that I don't like about the car - and I love my car!

The dealer is yanking your chain. I have the factory service maual and they can indeed adjust the setting. 15 seconds is the default setting. Either yours is defective or somehow it got switched. If the dealer won't/can't do it for you, compalain to Toyota.

I wrote Toyota an e-mail and they confirmed that the domelight can be changed. So back to my dealer I went - however, their computer they use to program various codes was broken and I'll have to get the light programed when they get their new gadget.
