Default Reposition rearview mirror?

I have an 07 Sedan, and at least for me, the rearview mirror sits WAY too low on the windshield. Merging traffic and pedestrians in crosswalks like to hide behind it, and I don't like it.

Can someone suggest an easy way to "unstick" the rearview from the windshield, and what I might use to re-attach it closer to the roof?

Try pivoting it all the way up on the current stalk, I have found most Toyota's have a double hinge in the arm that lets you move it up then flat to see out the back.

You are right about the double hinge (one at the base & one at the back of the mirror). Pivoting the stalk so it is as "horizontal" as possible definitely makes a big difference. Now I just have to decide if that moves it far enough up the windshield to suit me. But at least I can see a little better for now!
