Fuel Additive Question

A friend of mine recommended Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus every 20K. I have a new (to me) 06 Double Cab with 118K. Probably never had any kind of additive used. I am always skeptical of additives used for the first time dislodging "crud" from wherever, and better to leave well enough alone. But I want to take good care of this truck and do anything I can to help keep things clean and improve MPG's. Opinions? Thank you!!

Re: Fuel Additive Question

I have been using these additives in all my cars for years. Tried quite a few.

Lucas seemed to gum up the float in the gas tank resulting in my fuel gauge sticking at 1/4 tank through several full tanks. Tried it a couple of times just to verify it might have been the Lucas stuff.

Berryman B-12 Chemtool is a good one.

I did the Seafoam thing and I had hardly any smoke at all. Everything must be clean.

Haven't tried the Amsoil P.i. Additive but will give it a try.

I have a bottle of Redline Sl-1 but haven't used it yet.

I did read that the octane boosters can be corrosive.

The best I ever used was from Trick Racing Fuel, but haven't seen it around for a long time. The guy that turned me on to this told me "If it don't come in a can it ain't no good".

Techron, Wynn's, NOS, STP, Gumout, 3M, Prestone........and it goes on and on.

I guess it comes down to a matter of preference and what you believe is best.
