Did you buy this truck used? If so, the previous owner swapped out the ADD transfer case for a manual one. You'll be able to engage the transfer case, but it means nothing if you can't engage the ADD in the front diff. It's possible the previous owner integrated a switch to engage the front diff. Is there a unique switch anywhere on the dash?

Another option if it's set-up the way I'm thinking, try shifting the lever into 4HI, then press the 4HI button. See if that engages the front diff. For 4LO, you'll only need to engage the lever.

Re: 4wd shifter and button

I've read elsewhere on the push-button only versions (no hand shifter) it could also be the mechanism on the exterior of the transfer case itself (that physically switches it to 4WD) that gets jammed (especially if not used / engaged in a while). It is a common problem, but not sure if there is a similar mechanism on yours.

There is also a vacuum hose on the very top -- make sure that is connected and check your electrical connections on the transfer case as well.
