Got a ECT sensor code... Swapped out the ECT sensor.. Got the same code... my mechanic suggested replacing the thermostat because if its stuck open the sensor will trip a code if the engine doesnt heat up fast enough or something... Replaced the thermostat... Made sure to disconnect the battery...

I have a 2000 Tundra with the 4.7 V8. When I turn on the ignition key, the needle on the temperature gauge goes immediately to the midway position and stays there even if the motor is cold. When the ignition is turned off the needle drops to 0. Should I replace the ECT sensor?
