Was driving home from the store with my nephew in the truck with me, and a kid plowed into us at about 60 mph. Was sitting on a two lane street waiting for someone to turn left, from our lane across trafic, in front of me, dead stop. WHAM!!!

Holy Sh!t! I can't believe that the seats broke!! Did you guys have any neck or back injuries? Hopefully some of the guys are are police officers will chime in, because I'm curious if seats and headrests break often in wrecks...

We are not ok. Going to the docs today with back and neck injury's. Didn't go to the hospital from the accident scene, even though we both were shaken up. The '04ish Expedition that hit us was completely destroyed, both persons were ok on the scene also, badly shaken up. I thought we were all going to die when I looked in the rearview and saw this car coming so fast so close. I think the seats failed as designed, I think that if the seats would not have done that, and stayed ridged, we would have been way more injured. This impact was unbelievable, it would have thrown us into the dash and all around other wise, after the rebound, can't explain it right. Straiting to shake again just writing about it

Were they intoxicated??! How the hell do you ram into a stopped truck at 60mph?? I would've jumped out and punched those people in the faces.:argue: Hope you are suing the crap outta them and they are paying for all doctor expenses and physical therapy. Sucks to hear this.

That would not surprise me in the least. I was rear-ended the exact same way on my motorcycle by a truck going 30mph. Stupid girl was more interested in her phone than the stopped car waiting to turn left or the motorcycle behind it. Hearing tires lock up beneath you when you're sitting at a stop on a motorcycle is terrifying (and i do mean beneath me, as that's how close the truck was before the idiot decided to try and stop).

Sincerely hope you and your nephew are okay.

I tried to tell you guys before... my giant RED truck is invisible!!!!!!!!!! I was rear ended within the first two months and had 3 near misses (lock up brakes skidding) in the first 6 mos. That's why I installed the light bar... to TRY to get someone to notice the GIANT RED TRUCK in front of them :)

Does anyone know if those seats are designed to bend like that for sure?

Sorry to hear about that, I'm surprised I must have missed that on the local news as I live just a few miles north of you. I sincerely hope you and your nephew's injuries are minor and not long term. As far as suing them it sounds like you have an open and shut case I just hope they have insurance.

This kind of thing ticks me off. My dad got hit in his car by a driver that was under the influence of alcohol and oxycodon along with other narcotics. He blacked out from the impact. Rims bent and wood grain cracked on his dash from impact. Hate to hear this.

Some more pics. The tree is what he hit after us, still a large impact. His headlight bezel is welded to the tail gate and bumper. The dash popped out from being hit so hard. Frame is bent visibly in 2 places, right rear spring perch, and under the right rear of the cab.All doors still work, no broken glass.

This is EXACTLY the resason I bought my truck. Had a Nissan Versa before. Have a small kid, who obviously rides in the back seat. Too many near hits from the rear from people not paying attention.

See way too many news stories here in Houston of some car being rear ended at speed and the kids in the back are killed. So, got the Tundra. Don't care about leather, don't care about 5.7, don't care about gizmos. Care about 6.5 feet of steel between them and my kid.

It's amazing the truck is still driveable after such an impact. You guys must have been sore as hell the next morning. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
