Hi all, sorry for yet another post on this topic. I have read multiple posts/viewed multiple videos on this and while I have a good idea of what I'm doing I have two additional questions that I can't seem to find the answers to, or the answers are unclear. For background: it's a 2000 Tundra V8 4.7 (2UZFE engine). I'm doing a timing belt change.

Questions:

1) What is the socket size for the crankshaft pulley? I'm seeing sizes all over the place. 23mm? 27mm?

2) At what point in the process can I do a test fire of the engine to make sure I did it right and it runs? I don't want to put everything back together only to find out I did something wrong and have to take it all apart again.

i can't remember the socket size, pretty easy to reach up there and check it though i believe. when i did my 2uzfe i spun the crank a couple times by hand/socket to make sure that it did in fact spin and that the little line up marks were still lining up once it came back around.

As suggested, check out the three part You Tube videos from 1A Auto. All the info and procedures are there. Here is the link to part 1: How To Replace Toyota Tundra Timing Belt 2002 V8 Disassemble Front of Engine PART 1 1AAuto.com - YouTube
I watched them several times and even scribbled down a step-by-step check list to follow. Bag and tag all bolts and keep the removed parts in an orderly layout. I purchased the crank bolt removal tool on Amazon because my 2x4 (as shown in videos) split. (If you live near Tucson, AZ you can borrow mine).
Once you get the TB installed (Caution: there is also a mark on the bottom of the crank pulley) you can hand crank the engine in the "correct direction only) to see if all turns. BEWARE that the marks on the belt and pulleys will no longer appear as aligned for a few turns of the crank. Don't freak out) I waited until I finished the job and just started it up. Double check everything and check it off your scribbled list and you should be fine... "Enjoy the adventure..." Chap
