Well, after years of waiting for a snorkel to come available for our trucks and no progress made I pulled the trigger and ordered a snorkel for the 100 series LC.

I know it's been done, but I've never found a writeup on the installation.

It may be slow progress as I'll be pretty busy with work over the next few weeks but it'll slowly come together.

First look- The factory antenna will need to be removed. I found taking the fender off is the easiest way, and while it's off that'll make drilling holes that much easier.

The fender actually is quite easy to take off.

Stay tuned.

Thoughts on what you're going to do to seal the electronics under the hood, or is this just cosmetic?
I don't plan on being a boat, or going up over my windshield. Once you form a nice bow wave out in front of your vehicle it's normally smooth sailing. But I have ran into the wave in the past and had water come up over the hood. This will at least put that worry to ease.

You could go on and on with water-proofing everything, electronics, electric fan, yada yada yada.. Equipment under the hood is for the most part designed to get wet, just not be submarined.

Looks like somebody got an RTT :D. Wanna come use it next weekend? Goin to Beef Basin and Needles, Friday through Sunday-ish. ;)
Which weekend? This coming weekend? (Mothers Day weekend) or the following? I'll be up in Montrose this coming weekend. I'm going to have to start looking into the area you're talking about though, heard good things!

Sorry guys I failed at posting up details. I had taken many pictures and measurements on the install then got busy and was out of town quite a bit, long story short our house was burglarized and my laptop was stolen. Enough with the excuses though. I still have the camera and all the pictures. My Droid phone is my net connection. I can email a few pictures to those who must have them, just email me at [email protected]. I am going to see what I can get done with my girlfriends MAC on Friday.

I took a few photos today. I was having a hard time getting the bluetooth on the mac to talk to the bluetooth on my phone so I had to upload to Flickr. Anyone who wants to post the pictures up feel free!

The installation is pretty straightforward folks. They include a template that you pretty much align onto your fender with a few minor adjustments. TAKE YOUR TIME! I had actually took my fender all the way off to do the best job possible only to find out that it wasn't necessary.

The hardest part was tightening down the bolt on the inside of the fender that is above the snorkel body. Removal of your inner fender lining is necessary. You'll probably break a few of the plastic rivets getting the lining out but they can be found cheap from the dealership.

I did a lot of mock-ups before I started cutting holes in the fender.

Once I can get the photos off of my camera I can post pictures of the actual work.

If anyone is serious about doing this, I will sell you my 114mm hole saw that's the exact size for the large main hole. I paid $36 for the bit. I'll sell it for $25 shipped. It just makes the job a whole lot easier having an exact diameter bit instead of using a dremel.

The bracket that fixes to the side of the snorkel tower for rigidity will need to be fabricated since the included bracket won't work. I left about an inch of space between the tower and the truck surface so that I could install the bracket later.

Successful install! No problems and it's been installed for about 5 months.

Any questions, feel free to send me a message!

oh another thing, sorry to change the subject. but where did you get that bumper guard on your truck? its pretty sweet!
Thanks! It actually took awhile to grow on me. My friend had a front bumper guard and rear bumper made for his Tundra but then decided to sell the truck and restore it back to near stock condition. So he asked if I wanted them. They work for protection, but I would've designed them a little differently.

I hate to , but I have to...
What about pictures for how you connected the stock Cold Air Intake box and the Safari Snorkel?

Can we Please get some extra informative pictures of how the piping is routed. You got any pictures of this?

And if not... MOTOCHAIN... Do you have or can you make a list still of the extra parts/sealants, ect. that are required ?

I am definately going to be buying this Snorkel .
Where do I purchase it though?
It looks a lot better than I thought it would.
Defintely will come in handy for me.
Lots of flooding around the Northwest.

Thank you who-ever you are for posting MOTOCHAIN's pictures. And thanks MOTOCHAIN for taking them. Been waiting for ever. But.... Do you got any more
This snorkel may be made for the 100 series land cruiser but you'd be amazed how well everything lines up. The most important thing you need to do is take your time when you are measuring, before you drill holes. The template that they provide you will take all the difficult measuring away.

Align the curve of your fender with the curve on the snorkel body (the flat part of the snorkel that rests against the fender actually has a slight indentation that is designed to work with the curve of the fender), then align the top part of the snorkel with the slope of your windshield. It really helps if you have an extra set of hands so that one person can hold the snorkel and the other can align it properly.

As for the actual plumbing, don't worry about it at all, the bladder that connects your stock box to the snorkel hooks up like they're designed for the tundra. And there is a little wiggle room.

The 100 series land cruiser also has the 4.7l motor so the intake diameter is the same.

You will have to disconnect and relocate your radio antenna.

Tool wise, the hole saw I stated in a previous post is about the only specialty tool I used.

I ordered from SierraExpeditions.

All the holes drilled.

I took this picture with the fender off to show what's going on behind/inside the fender once it is installed.

As I said. Once installed, it's actually quite amazing how well it follows the curvature of the Tundra.

A few shots of the complete look.

so damn cool. Motochain, could you post some more info on your truck? Looks like from this picture you might be running 6" of lift?
IMAG0239 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Also, I'm curious to know more about the bed rack that is holding your RTT. Did you make it yourself?

Did anyone else ever install this? Several people said they were going to. Let's see em!
Sorry. I don't log on too much. I see you're over on Expedition Portal as well! NICE!

I had a 5" Tuff Country lift, w/ Bilstein suspension. I was running 35's, which added a bit of ground clearance.

The rack that's holding the RTT is a Thule adjustable contractor style rack. Worked out great!

I have had a handful of people email me asking questions about the snorkel install. There was only one other person who I talked with that actually went through with it. I'm sure they'll post pics sooner or later.
