Curious... does the snorkel provide a 'ram air' effect?

And FWIW I always thought these were cool. Too bad I can't foresee myself in a situation where I would remotely even need one. However, I'm sure there are folks in Tennessee who are wishing they had one of these this past week.

about an hour after they recovered the first one another group tried to make it in the same place, someone with a working brain cell opened the door to see how deep the water was and decided that they should turn around, the water ahead was 8 feet deep, this was the area where the rhode island blood center and the warwick mall was.

Which weekend? This coming weekend? (Mothers Day weekend) or the following? I'll be up in Montrose this coming weekend. I'm going to have to start looking into the area you're talking about though, heard good things!
14-17. Not Mother's Day.

First of all I've driven into water and nearly drowned once, so I'm going to say...DON'T DO IT!!! The snorkle looks cool and might work OK , but it also might give a fellow a false sense of security and get you into real trouble. It won't keep your truck from floating off down the creek and turning over. Don't drive through water!!! Get a canoe!!

iv crossed a river in a h1(obviously a lot more stable) and the water was half way up the windows... also been in a jeep across a smaller river and it was about the same. both were fine. but granted i wouldnt take my truck though anything close to that. way to nice to do that lol

granted they are for crossing water, but common sense should tell you your driving a truck not a submarine. the things are designed so that the little bit of water going up your hood doesnt go into your airbox, traveling in water bumper height can go in your airbox. they are only meant to prevent water damage and supply clean air to the engine. other than that you better boatside, seal the doors and hook up a propeller, hmmmm an amphibious tundra, now that could be fun..........

I wonder if this ever happened?
i know of another member who installed one, and it looked pretty damn good, i need to search through my saved files. it's not a how to but seeing to pics you will get a better idea.
its bad enough that finding good off road parts for these things are a pain in to a$$, always figured we were here to share and help each other out:(
