I had a check engine light pop up on my 2004 Echo at around 60 k miles. The code was for a cam shaft position sensor. I erased the code several times and it comes right back on. I can't find a service manual with testing procedures to see if it is bad. SHould I just replace it? This light came on right after putting on a new drive belt. Mustang any advice?

When I see that cam position sensor codes come up on the 04 echo.. I check the VVTi cam gear, and the solenoid that controls it.

Part#'s

Camshaft VVTi Timing Gear - $228.82 - 13050-21041
Camshaft Valve/Solenoid - $95.65 - 15330-21011

You can pull the solenoid out and apply power/ground to it to see if it actuates or is sticking..

They're both common parts to replace for this engine..

Good luck, hope you get it fixed!! :tu:
